Degeneration: hate it or love it?

I finally got around to seeing it recently and I really enjoyed it. I loved how it tied-in with the games and set the story for Resident Evil 5 with Tricell at the end. It was a nice change of pace from the live-action movies which to me are just a dumb action-oriented movies that take random elements from the games and throw them together. They just do not appeal to me at all.

I think I speak for everyone if I say I love Degeneration but hate the Alice movies.

Did I say they differed? If you don't know by now Resident Evil 5 is my least favorite RE game for that reason alone.

@GL: At least RE4 and 5 are enjoyable and have plot. Not so much RE4 but RE5 has a great story and good voice actors. The Anderson movies have nothing redeemable about them.

Prepare for another review of the new crap Anderson rolls out with.

Degeneration was the only half-decent Resident Evil movie. Everything else makes me want to hang a puppy.

Yes, actually they are.

To some people the "raping" is like what people think George Lucas has done to his movies.

I disagree on both but I can see why.

I liked Star Wars 1 - 3. Not as good as the original trilogy but still good.

3 is one of my favorites.

That's my exact opinion on the Star Wars movies as well. I actually really like the prequels and have fond memories of them. Not as good as the originals, but still enjoyable to watch as well as appreciate.

However I cannot agree with the RE franchise being raped.

But yeah, Degeneration was good.

Couldn't have put it any better. It's funny because I was talking to this dude at school about RE5 and how it wasn't up to par compared to the other games and he said it was great (he's never played an RE game before this one).

And I'm pretty sure CAPCOM changed it because they wanted the series to evolve and modernize rather than staying the same thing forever.

Don't make me laugh. "Change" is what occurred when Kojima took MGS1 and used the forumla to make MGS2. "Rape" is what occurred when Capcom made the RE franchise into an action shooter.

No offense, Knife, but the first RE game you played was RE4, so I really don't expect you to understand. You may have eventually gotten around to playing the older games, but the RE you were introduced to was a multi-million dollar franchise. The RE I was introduced to was a little known name that no one had ever heard of before. I don't deny that RE4 and RE5 are great games in their own right. In their own right. But they're a disgrace when compared to what the RE franchise used to be and should still be. It's like taking The Hills Have Eyes and making a sequel in the style of The Expendables. RE was the video game equivalent of a horror movie that relies on atmosphere and tension. RE4 and RE5 are the video equivalent of the typical action movie that relies on big explosions.

You can argue it all you want, but the simple fact is that Capcom casualized RE to appeal to people that didn't like it and left those that did like it in the dust. If people wanted an action packed zombie game, why didn't they just go play House of the Dead or something?

At least Slant Six isn't masquerading ORC as a survival horror game.
