Why would it have to be one of those? Well the crazy hillbillies that can speak intelligently, but who have lost all sense of hygiene. Points towards it possibly being Las Plagas. But who knows. Maybe there's more than one infection this time. I actually really liked that about Revelations 2. |

| I think Aunt Rhody might have something to do with it, she might've been an Umbrella Scientist, and gave her family a super doper virus. I don't know, there could be a better explanation. |

Who knows, maybe Aunt Rhody could be a certain failed experiment from RE1. |

| Welp, it looks like Europe is getting the shaft once again when it comes to special editions of games. They just revealed the North American special edition. You guys' special edition includes a metal case for the game, a way better looking replica of the dummy finger from Beginning Hour (which is a 4GB memory stick) that comes in a case shaped like an old VHS tape, a litograph of the dinner scene (and not just some random screenshots), a replica of the "I shall dash you against the stones" note and a way better looking replica of the house that ALSO doubles as a music box that plays the Aunt Rhody theme! Oh, and it all comes in a really sweet looking box. Ours probably comes in a thrash bag. |

| The North American version only has half the house though as its statue. It may be more detailed but it's missing half the completed building.
And why would Lisa be in this? Her body was crushed and vaporised in 1998. |

Well, North America is the best continent on earth, so I suppose they have to do something to make everyone else feel special. It is a pretty cool statue either way, though. What's it made of? I could totally envision people using it as a fish tank decoration. And I'm not being sarcastic when I say that. - Quote :

Lisa Trevor? When did her body get crushed? I only remember her leaping off a ledge into a chasm that could have been 1,000 feet deep or 10 feet deep, for all we know (the average person can drop between 20 and 30 feet, depending on landing position, without serious injury, but such a drop probably wouldn't even faze Lisa). |

Yes, but like I said, the house is a friggin' music box that plays Aunt Rhody. - Ghost Leader wrote:

I think at least the European one is made of plastic. The NA version most likely is not a good idea for a fish tank, considering the mechanisms inside But yeah, I agree, it would look neat in a fish tank. |

She was heavily mutated. The "little girl" could just be a reflection of her true self. Since her life essentially ended when Umbrella took her. As for how she survived. Well being unkillable was kinda her "thing". I doubt a chandelier (or even the mansion explosion) would finish her off. |

Well, yes, but there's still a huge size difference between Lisa and the girl. I doubt it's her unless she somehow became an evil genius at some point and Alex Wesker'd it. |

Yeah that's probably just my head canon bias. I had a fanfiction idea where Umbrella returns to the mansion ruins. And discover a mass of mutated flesh. Which "hatches" into Lisa as a young girl. Like she was before they stole her life. Only now she has... powers. I never wrote it down (as i can't write) and it was just the bare bones of an idea. But i'm now hopeful that they'll do something similar. P.S. On the other hand Marcus was able to assume a youthful, idealized form of himself. So its not out of the question for Lisa to do something similar. |

| A new RE7 interview drops. There was a Taiwanese interview with Masachika Kawata and they spoke in length about the game. I'll put the translations of the interview in spoilers below, to save some room. A lot of what was talked was something we've already read before but there were a few interesting tidbits in there as well. Surprisingly many of these interviewers ask about Tofu... Read on below! Don't worry, there are no story spoilers in there. - Spoiler:
Q: What is the difference between the Global version and the Asian version of the game?
A: The content is the same. But since Japan has more restrictions on gory things, the Japanese version has less gory animations. For example in the Baker's video, the hand was not cut off like how it was in other versions. We are worried that the Japanese player might be unhappy due to the lack of gory scenes, so we are releasing an separate gory version for them.
Q: 7 is fully compatible with PS VR, but every player's adaptability to VR is different. How do you cope with that?
A: Definitely, some people cannot adapt to VR, and they will get dizzy once they play it. However in order for everyone to enjoy the title, we have made some adjustment to VR, so that the players can play for longer period of time. Actually the person responsible for VR in Resident Evil 7 is not used to VR as well, but he insisted to try and made some adjustments to VR, for example for every 30 degrees of change in VR point of view, the camera angle will move. The pace for the game is quite slow so the players do not feel as dizzy.
Q: Later when the PC version of Resident Evil 7 is released, will other brands of VR devices be supported?
A: There will be no other VR, at this stage only PS VR will be supported.
Q: Will the latest demo support VR after the update. A: We are planning on that.
Q: There is a rumour that PS VR has a longer play time than normal gameplay, is it true?
A: I don't know where this rumour comes from, but there will be no difference in content and play time in either version.
Q: Talking about the relationships between the game titles, the enemies in the past are zombies, why is there a change in enemies in 7? What is the correlation?
A: The focus in this title is horror, so we are changing the type of enemies. But recently we have been revealing the information of new enemies, so players will immediately recognise these are Resident Evil enemies, this is the real successor of 6 generations of history.
Q: Will the other characters in the series appear in this game?
A: In order to emphasise on horror, the main character in this game is very weak. We will avoid using those type of characters in the past who are experienced in combating zombies. Also part of the reason is that the character modelling in the past cost a lot, and we don't want to spend too much on characters this time around, laugh.
Q: Why use first person in this game? Is this done to because you want to be compatible with PS VR?
A: We have actually decided to use first person for this game before the announcement of PS VR. It was just a coincidence that when we were about to release information about the game, the news of PS VR also surfaced. We have noticed that this title is somewhat of a perfect match with PS VR, so we decided to have the PS VR compatibility. A lot of people talked about the similarities with KONAMI's P.T, but it is purely a coincidence. When we were developing 7, P.T demo was suddenly announced, and our development team were shocked.
Q: This time around will you add some hidden contents like how they were added in the past? Something like Tofu.
A: Do you want to see a realistic Tofu? A first person view with squarely body and hands? It will be interesting, but we currently have no plans on that.
Q: The character this time is very weak. So can the weapons be customised to fight off the enemies?
A: We have to say there is no QTE and no weapon customisation. The players have to use all kinds of weapons to fight off the enemies. But players don't have to worry, not only that there are a lot of different weapons, there are also some familiar weapons that appeared in the past titles.
Q: In the video we notice that the main character we are controlling can be male or female. Will the character change with the progression of the story? Or will we be able to customise our character's gender or appearance etc?
A: Character creation is interesting, but in first person you won't be able to see yourself, so it's not suitable for this POV. This title will not include character creation, but it is true that with the progression of the story there will be different characters that the players control.
Q: In the information there are outdoor environments, so does it mean the whole game is not limited to the mansion?
A: This is the same with the first title, the possibility of going to different environments will create anticipation for the players. What did everyone see in the outdoor environment? I cannot say anything explicitly.
Q: With First Person / VR, how do players see their own health and ammo? Will the danger status affect the characters' movement?
A: This time the HUD for player's statuses is a bit different, and actually it has already been revealed. Maybe the players have not noticed, but during gameplay players will immediately notice, because it is quite obvious. The status of the character will in fact affect the movements, and the character will move slower and start panting when the character is on the verge of death. Players do not have to worry about this part of the design.
Q: Will returning characters be making an appearance?
A: Returning characters will be appearing but minimally.
Q: Will we be able to use the chainsaw from the ESRB leak?
A: I can not really discuss that right now but I can say that enemies will drop weapons which you can pickup and use yourself.
Q: Is the virus new? A: Yes the virus is new.
Link to the source (with a link to the Taiwanese article): https://www.reddit.com/r/residentevil/comments/5eydri/new_article_returning_characters_weapons_ps4_vr/Here are a couple more pictures from different shows: A bunch of item models from the game: A sculpt of a possible zombie model (or just a really viciously dead guy): While I was searching for more info on this I bumped into an old interview all the way from June, in which it was mentioned that players who connect their game with their Ambassador program will get some added bonuses. So, you know, if you plan on getting the game and haven't signed up for Ambassador yet, you better do it before the game comes out. |

Everybody's dead, Dave. Too bad. I tried going to another Resident Evil forum, it wasn't pretty. I may have lost a few brain cells just reading some of their "posts". |

| I have absolutely no idea what happened to the site's URL but rest assured I'm still here, and I even tried sending everyone emails about the new url. No idea if any of them came through. In any case, I've been following RE7 news quite tightly and been planning on compiling everything in a big post again. I'll also be streaming the demo update at some point today. Or at least that's the plan. https://www.twitch.tv/massdistraction |
