Half Life Series

anyone here ever play the half life games...I am starting to get into this series and I was wondering what everyone else thought about the games

Ahh, I was thinking of posting a thread for Half-Life, you got to it first Regenerator. And yes, I have played it, I have the first one on PS2, I have the Orange Box, which includes Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, and Portal, all of which are a part of the Half-Life series, except Team Fortress 2, but anyway, HL is a a great series, and you have to love the nonspoken protagoist Gordon Freeman. Regenerator, which ones have you played? And also, if you have any questions about any of them, I can help, the ones that I haven' played are the sidestory types of games, HL: Blue Shift, HL: Opposing Force.

Well Spike I have played a little of HL2 for xbox and I have bought myself a copy of it for the pc just yesterday on ebay ...I do have one question to ask you though...what is the story behind the series?

Okay,well it started with Black Mesa, a research facility, they were working with Portals, and when they were doing a test, there was this incident referred to as the Resonance Cascade, in which a bunch of 'alien lifeforms' from Xen, some type of alternate dimenstion get in and start killing everyone, then the 'higher ups' send in a military force to kill everyone and everything, so as you try to escape you have to deal with the Xen creatures and the Miliary force. You end up going to Xen, and a few times you see the G-man, and at the end he offers you a choice, on is actually canon, but anyway, you get to choose, with joining them being canon, so in HL2, which takes place a good 10 years after I think, you are in City 17, and well, I don't want to reviel too much other than that, but Portal, which is when you play as the character Chell, you are in the Enrichment Center, Aperture Science place, where they were also working on portal technology, and of course they had the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, and yeah, it is all really cool.

nope I haven't played that game yet...does it take place in the HL series?

Yes, it doesn't tell us a time period or anything, but it has a slideshow going on in another room, with Black Mesa on it, so it does happen in the same universe, but like I said, we don't know when it takes place.

well I got Half Life 2 today and boy is it looking good

How far have you gotten? Is it just HL2, or is it a box set?

I haven't gotten far but it is just HL2 with Deathmatch

Deathmatch seems like it would be alot of fun, I would prefer that over Team Fortress 2 any day.

I haven't exactly bee able to play TF2 because it is like only system link or online, neither of which I have, so I don't really have that much of an opinion, but it certainly looks lame compared to HL & Portal.

Also, just to throw it out there, I think that HL2 had really cool gun animations.

well not just the gun animations are cool...the whole darn game is cool

Yeah, the the crowbar, can't forget it.

I kind of didn't like how in Episode 1 that you don't get the crowbar until over halfway through the game.

Which part are you at right now?

That is the place where you get the Gravity gun from what I remember.

lol, yeah, Neither have I. How about HL Decay? That is the co-op one that came bundled with in with the PS2 version of HL? I have it, I haven't beat that one yet, but it is cool, you play as Dr Green, and some other chick and you bring the crystal to the room where Gordon is at, which starts the Ressonace Cascade.

No as well,those expansions I haven't played,and don't seen very worth it as well,exepct the Oposing Force,this one looks badass
