Have any of you played the online portion yet? I'm thinking about picking this up Saturday. I read a lot of mix reactions to it and I saw a walkthrough of this and looks pretty good.

Seriously, what's up with IGN giving all good games crappy reviews lately? Most I've heard of ORC is good and people seem to enjoy the campaign.
Here's the game's lauch trailer, by the way.
I read the review and it seems IGN were expecting more horror and scares. Claiming there is a lack of atmosphere and isnt a typical RE game despite being warned that its a spin off and isnt a traditional RE game, more of a shooter. If we can look past all that, id say it will be a decent game.

How on earth were they expectiong horror and scares from a game that has been marketed as a team based action shooter from the beginning? Those bs reviews are a part of the reason I don't like the site.

Have you seen all those stupid "gamers" that canceled the pre-order because it isn't survival horror??I mean....you're a team with a mission, not a college girls trying to survive

Same here. I used to take there reviews serious but not anymore. I mean Silent Hill Downour and ORC both get a 4 from IGN, whilst the majority of other gaming websites have given them around a 7 or 8. Also I cant stand Greg Miller from IGN.

If ScrewAttack faces them in SA vs the Internet I really hope IGN loses.

Anyway, I don't think this game is too terrible.
It's quite a challenge on normal.
And I'm pretty sure Spike hates it.
It really does play like Cock of Doody. But they didn't do too bad.
I'm really likin Lupo, Vector, Bertha, and Beltway.
But I do enjoy this challenge. ^-^

I don't even care that it's not "classic" RE. It's just super annoying.
I'll play some more here in a bit and probably enjoy it more, but it's definately different.
I'd take Outbreak over ORC any day.

So I just got offline playing with a couple of buddies and man was it hard as shit to even get in the same server, even if we were all in one party and squad.
Online is such a hassle. It shouldn't be this hard, and yet it is. It took us about 30 minutes before we could actually play the game together, it froze, it said there was no existing session, and by a streak of luck we were all finally in the same room.
The Online is so buggy, I couldn't even see one of my friend's who was supposedly following our team leader, and he could only see me when I was a Recon turning invisible or if a zombie was grabbing me, or some other character animation. It made it hard because I couldn't heal him if he needed it, if I was infected and he had an antidote he couldn't give it to me, and all the while we had to work together.
We also noticed that several characters are so broken and cheap that they are nearly impossible to defeat. Lupo has an ability that makes her practically invulnerable and strengthened. When you get knocked down you can expect to die right then and there. There's no way for you to get back up. This also shows in the campaign, if you're knocked down by Birkin, he can constantly keep knocking you down until your health depletes.
This game surely is meant for the multiplayer experience, the campaign suffers from horrible AI, making it more difficult than it needs to be. Finding key cards in enormous pitch black rooms makes it sickening at a point if you go on long enough. I often have to shoot to light up the room to see where I was going, not that it really helped either. Imagine you had a liter with no fluid and you had to constantly flick it in order to see, it was about as useful as that. And then the flint runs out just as your ammo is all gone. It was a waste to even try.
Checkpoints are another issue, if you quit in the middle of a mission you have to start from the beginning. It also seems that the chapters aren't even really connected. It feels more like Left 4 Dead than Resident Evil. No real story is being established. Since this is game screams to be a multiplayer experience, it only begs the question of splitscreen. How hard was it to include Splitscreen? Major multiplayer games have splitscreen, every single one. Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, even Splintercell, they all have splitscreen. If Resident Evil 5 had it, why can't this game? How hard is it to add it?
I feel that this game is a beta, it still needs work. Whilst the verses modes are fun when you can actually play them, I see a lot of improvement. Capcom was confident that they didn't need a beta version, this was going to sell just because it had Resident Evil in the title, and they were right. But the game is afflicted with many flaws that could have been avoided if a beta had been released.
I still am excited for the game, and I enjoy playing it, but what potential it holds to be a truly great game is unwaveringly high, which makes it all the more depressing that the developers didn't bring their A game to the table at such an opportunity.

My hopes for this game have long faded. Slant Six should never be allowed to make another RE game ever. Such an embaressment for 2012 gaming.

I'm at the last chapter of the campaign now, and so far, I like the game.
Like previous replies, it really seems to me that the game is built for multiplayer purposes in mind, and the gameplay experience feels way more like a shooter than RE4 and RE5.
There is minor movement gliches, but nothing big.
The story, though a little shallow, is well-represented, I kind of like the feeling of playing these die-hards souless Umbrella soldiers XD. The '' RE essence '' is lacking, sadly, but visually, you can still reminisce of various places like the police station or the lab that reminds you of RE2.
My favorite character is by far Spectre, his battle intel is so OP, it's inbelievable. And his paranoid russian vibe is delicious to experience .
And yes, some monsters are really uber fucking insanely hard to kill. I love it, even when I'm on the verge of actual murder, because it really feels like a fucking monster that seems unkillable.
The game is made probably for more casual players that want to try a change of pace. Convervative purists will more than likely hate the experience, but for me, it's an enjoyable game while waiting for the true meal : RE6.
I'll try online soon enough, but that's my two cents for now

@McShowtime:
I would have to disagree with everything you said. The Campaign consists of going from point A to point B, clicking Pressing A just to go from point B to point C some more, all the while having tedious firefights the entire game slowing you down and killing you to ensure that you have a low score by the end of the game.
The boss fights are unimainative and frustrating. Fighting off two Mr. T's while your team mates constantly murder themselves, and forcing you to heal them as they tackle you to the ground only make you wish your friends want to play the campaign. But no, they're only in it for the multiplayer verses modes, which are broken and hard to start up. Your brother can't play with you unless you have two copies, two xboxes an two televisions, so even training your dog to play with you or kidnapping a hobo if you don't have a brother nor friends are out of the question because splitscreen is such a difficult concept to apply to a multiplayer focused game.

@Mercy, about how it doesn't feel connected, I think it's kinda like Outbreak in that way. Which isn't so bad, I mean there's so much time in Raccoon to cover. From like the 26th to the 1st of October.
Otherwise I haven't played online, but I'll take your word for it...
Why did Capcom have to do this?
I mean I think we all would have been satisfied if this had played like RER, and gameplay was like it is, minus all the shoot outs.
