@Thom: Oh wow. I didn't even notice. Still, I should find a way to play older games that I never really got to. But I can't even get to all the games I want to play now.

Although Tingle was actually hilariously annoying.

There's a certain charm to tingle. Kind of like Navi, she was annoying as all hell, but I felt sad when she left at the end of the game. Hope and Vanille have the same charm of an ear infection.

I honestly would suggest playing the older FF titles then. Preferable something from I to X. I hear XII is really good too.

Yeah, XII is great, re-playing it at the moment. It isn't a typical FF game though, but that could also be a reason to play it as a non-FF fan. Wouldn't suggest playing II or III though. I thought those were really lacking both story and gameplay. Especially II.

Maybe not III, sure, but the remakes of I and II for GBA are pretty good.

So uh... Let me rephrase my first suggestion. The remakes of I, II and IV and then pretty much any version from V onwards until X. Then XII.

I like I, but II didn't really do it for me. The broken leveling system, the lack of story, the boring dungeons. Battles were mostly just spamming the attack command, also with your mages because MP is really valuable in the game, and scarce too. I also didn't like the world in II that much. And I'm talking about the remake, never played the NES original. I still think the original trilogy is pretty outdated, although I do really recommend I to anybody, because it's a classic.

I've been gone since like Saturday but...

Older Final Fantasy games are still the best.
Hope and Vanille are a bit annoying.
And Tingle will always be Tingle. He's just a little bit strange. As for Navi, she's always been one of my favorites, no matter how annoying he gets.

Well part of it was sarcasm because all she did so far in where I got to in FFXIII was turn into a crystal and she's not even remotely interesting. We'll see, if I end up liking FFXIII, I may pick it up regardless of who I think should play a bigger role than more deserving characters.

Well, I personally found X really easy, and X-2 a bitch at some points (final boss, although I was a bit underleveled)  . Then again, all FF games starting with VI were easy, aside from maybe XII (and some XIII bosses).

That is what I have heard! Because Survivor is supposedly so short, I am going to play through each possible direction before I move on. I am actually really excited about Survivor and Dead Aim because I have never played them.
