New Resident Evil CGI film slated for 2017

The film will star Leon, Chris, and Rebecca. This is the only image from the article.



It seems to be the setting for the new film, reaching back to it's roots in claustrophobic horror mansions; it seems like this one is covered in foliage, most likely abandoned, or at least not taken care of. It makes me gamble that they'd be facing zombies again. The writer for the anime Psycho-Pass is writing the script.

My expectations are thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big.

In short, very big.

I thought Degeneration was horrible, absolute crap. Damnation on the other hand was remarkable by comparison. I have to give it another watch, sure it had it's campy moments, but it was aware of it, and asked us to have fun with it.

I just hope that Capcom continues it's good story telling, comedy, and suspense that was in the last movie.

I wonder if Rebecca will retain her job as a philosophy professor from the stage play or if that one is completely scratched from canon.

Leon again? You'd think they would want to update us on what Jill was up to during and after RE7. In fact, after RE7, we're due a Jill/Claire team-up IMO.

I'm still thinking RE7 will be that team-up.

What is the news on RE7 anyway? Last I heard it was "pending" by Capcom. And yeah, I heard from a friend that Rebecca will be a teacher, but in medicine? Unsure if there's any truth to that.

He does. That's one of the few things we know about it.

We also know that it involves a new strain of virus tagged the L-virus.

It works much like the T-virus, however instead of slowly becoming a decaying zombie, the infected slowly become a well groomed Leon. If that abandoned mansion was occupied at the time of the outbreak, we can expect at least a handful of Leon's to appear. Also spoiler alert, but Chris gets infected and becomes a Leon which sets up the story for RE7.

Oh my god that would be so cool! I've never actually thought about a movie featuring HUNK, apart from that one time I feared he might appear in the live action films. I was so hyped for Ark to appear in Damnation but the character turned out to be Buddy. Shame, though Buddy was a nice character too, despite the terrible nickname. I wonder if this film will have more newbies.

Still, even though Leon's in it again, it will be nice to see him interact with Chris outside of that very brief, albeit very cool cutscene in RE6. And hey, Rebecca is there! I'm hyped for that, and I assume but looking at your avatar that this is something you will also enjoy.

I just wonder who they're going to get to play Rebecca. I'm assuming that Roger Craig Smith will play Chris and Matthew Mercer will come back for Leon, but Rebecca has always been 18 years old. Even in her cameo in Mercenaries for RE5, and Mercenaries 3D.

I think they did an excellent job recasting a more mature voice for Claire in Revelations 2, so I at least hope they'd do the same for Rebecca.

A new picture has emerged. Apparently Capcom stroke a deal with Ducati to have one of their bikes featured in the film. A sponsor deal, as it's known.

OH, and we have a name! The movie's official title will be Resident Evil: Vendetta. Apparently they dropped the names starting with D, though that might be because this film is handled by a different animation studio.
