So I barely got anywhere in the first game. Never played the second. at first I wasn't going to get this because I felt that I wouldn't know what was going on.
Until I learned that it's a prequel.
But seriously looks really fun. Rarely see such natural voice acting in games.
Really excited for this one.
Actually, the three major games I want are all from CAPCOM: RE6, LP3, and DVC.

Why is everything a prequel nowadays? Seems to be a trend.

I'm glad it is. Otherwise I wouldn't get it.
It makes it more accessible to people who are new to the series.

Actually that really makes a whole lot of sense, at least in the case of long running series like Tomb Raider and Devil May Cry.

It's surprising they haven't really done that with the RE series. You would think they would eventually stop numbering them because people would feel that they cant get into it since it's the sixth game.
Of course it's popular enough that people don't care.

They kinda have gone back in time, so to say, with a lot of games. Zer0, Revelations, ORC and the Chronicles games come to mind.

My problem with this is that Capcom keeps outsourcing their titles to a bunch of crap companies. That's why Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City was so full of crap, that's why Lost Planet 2 wasn't as spectacular as Lost Planet 1. I'm also placing a bet that the new DMC won't be as phenomenal as previous entries. Why do they do it? It's cheaper to make an outsourced game with a big title with tons of fans behind it rather than do an in-house production and do it right.
That's why Resident Evil ORC did so well, just because it had the big Resident Evil name to it.

To be fair, Code Veronica was developed by an outside company and did rather well.
