I was looking for more information on the movie and found an article on Project Umbrella. Their source was the official Japanese site for the movie so I guess it has some credibility. I ain't even trying to translate the site myself, google has a tendency to screw that up. Apparently in addition to Leon, Chris and Rebecca the movie will also feature a fourth "popular" character. Any ideas who that could be? Jill, maybe? We haven't heard from her in a while.

i'm willing to bet that this fourth character would be either Jill, Claire, or Ada-because it seems that they are the only people that matters along with Chris and Leon.

I have not seen any news about this in forever. Do you think more info will be revealed soon, and maybe we will get a pre-RE7 release as well?

At least we know now RE7 is not a reboot. If that were the case, then releasing Vendetta (which follows the originals) would be pointless. I think RE7 is a seminal departure, meaning it will carry on the franchise while not being a direct sequel. Like, it may cast up things from other games or reveal more about Umbrella, but it will probably not mention anything about Chris, Leon and co.

They did say there will still be familiar faces in RE7, and people are speculating that this character in the trailer might be Rebecca. She will have a major role in the movie (and she's been quite prominent in some of the latest releases) so there is some credibility to the rumor.

Yes, it's a photograph of a woman so it's obviously Rebecca, or Jill, or Ada, or Natalia. It's obvious.

It does look somewhat like what I'd expect an aged Rebecca to look like.

Nothing wrong with speculation so long as there's something behind it to make it tangible. But there's no evidence whatsoever it is Rebecca, likewise the voice on the phone being Ada. People are literally plucking this stuff out of thin air.

It's as bad as that fucking Wesker clone crap Relyonhorror spread about.

Remember when people thought Bruce from Dead Aim was the star of RE5? To be honest, I thought it was him as well. But side story characters aren't important enough. They should still be mentioned again, like how Sheena Island was mentioned in Zero to make it canon. Rebecca will probably be returning in a main entry very soon.

Rebecca at least has been brought to current canon via The Stage and this upcoming movie. I'm glad Capcom is finally letting some of the characters out of the void of 98.

Famitsu has graciously given us two new images. A new poster featuring Chris with an eerie face in the background (SPECULATE, NOW) and the first actual screencap from the film.





Not sure who the two characters in the screencap are but they sure are bringing the whole mansion thing back.

That's what people are discussing, if the villain's an old one or a completely new one. We still have a couple of existing villains so if it isn't a new one I do hope they don't go the revival route.
