Sorry, but he sounds like a dick.
We have people who don't like RE4&5 here too. It's just that we like the games for what they are, embracing the ever living hell outta them. That's what being a true RE fan means. Just check our collections and show them to that guy. Or ask him if he knows about, I don't know, Sweet Home? I don't even want to start on the CoD gameplay, it's just too different (never liked a single CoD game, I'm not into action games). It's different from the original REs but that's just going to exaggeration. Every true RE fan knows the series is about the story, characters and biohazards. For a true horror game, I'd recommend Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and Siren.
Besides, I myself am more into the spin-offs of the series anyway LOOOL AT YOUR SAY ABOUT HIM and i always thought it was about survival horror and story. As RE is the godfather of survival horror. Anyway i dont think Jill or chris will be in RE6 since Wesker is now dead |

Anyway i dont think Jill or chris will be in RE6 since Wesker is now dead Well, he seems like one. Anyway, the survival horror element was there for a reason. That is the fact that the characters didn't know what was happening or that there were monsters there. Nowadays they know about these things. Now it's their time to counterattack. It's still survival, just the horror element is toned way down. Now it's more like survival-action. RE sure is one of the founding fathers of the genre, that can't be denied. Still, it wouldn't be without Sweet Home or the kickstart made by Alone in the Dark, which Thom mentioned in the last post. True about Jill & Chris. I really hope for some of the less seen characters. No Leon, Jill or Chris this time. |

| It isn't survival-action, because there is absolutely no survival in RE anymore. It's just action. |

| No, they still give you a lot of ammo and healing items and you still shoot at everybody. |

| For me the Pro is survival. It's just horrendous to try and... well, survive. I guess it depends on the player wether it feels like that or not. I think some games should just have the hard difficulty enabled from the start. Well, not RE5, the Pro mode drives me insane God forbid if Ninja Gaiden had had the Master Ninja difficulty from the start Hmm... I hope RE6 has some kind of tactical aspect implemented in it. Just see which fits you better, going out guns blazing or sneaking like a ninja. Something like MGS4. |

| You try to survive in almost every game, so you could call almost every game a survival game.
I consider a game survival if you're vulnerable and the only objective you have in the game is to survive. And the supplies must be scarce.
What makes RE4/5 more survival then for example gears of war?
But I'm going to sleep so I'll read your answer tomorrow. Good night. |

Gears is good. Pretty challenging on the hardest setting. Perfect example of survival is RE1, definiatlly. Especially Chris's scenerio, mega scares on the supllies. |

| To be frank, I didn't feel like I was "surviving" any differently in the older games. It's just the story that makes it "survival".
Amnesia, on the other hand, is a good example of survival horror. So is Shattered Memories. They present you little to no other options. You can't even fight the enemies. |

| i think more casual fans wanted resident evil to become a pure tps. i understand the hardcore fans wanting the game to be "survival" game, but the casual fans outnumber the hardcore fans. |

| @Mass: So you think shooting everything you see without having to worry about ammo or healing items with a excellent camera view just as much survival as having to conserve ammo, only kill what you have to and search for ammo. |

| But I never had to conserve ammo in the earlier games. I just had to choose what ammo to bring with me. I have like a bazillion grenade and magnum rounds when I get to the end of a game. |

| That's probably because you didn't play REmake, RE0 and CVX. Those games were the hardest. In RE1 you had to conserve ammo a bit, RE2 and 3 were easy, but you still couldn't shoot everything you saw. |

| I've been watching my friend play through CV and he didn't have a problem with ammo. Gonna get that game myself though.
I've also heard that REmake isn't that bad either. The only RE people seem to complain having a really small amount of ammo in is Zer0. |

| REmake can be bad, if you don't know what you are doing. I didn't have any problems with CVX either, but I heard from a lot of people that they ran out of ammo and had to start over. I always have a problem with healing items in those games though. Still, you don't shoot everything you see and RE4 gives you like three times more ammo. |

| Haunting ground is pretty survival as well. I still think the PAL original was RE was survival. That version left you with hardly anything like you would kill one zombie and have 3 handgun bullets left lol. But I suppose that only applied when the game was first out because I used to kill everything in the game. Instead of leaving a few enimies along. |

Amnesia, on the other hand, is a good example of survival horror. So is Shattered Memories. They present you little to no other options. You can't even fight the enemies. I didn't like SM. Solely because of the reason that you can't even attempt to fight off the Raw Shocks. They should've incorporated combat into it, like Penumbra, where combat was the inferior option to running. Also, the nightmare sections were just repetitive. |

| Despite RE5's let-down, I'm actually excited for RE6. I'm so glad that they officially announced it at Comic Con. Call me crazy, but I think RE6 is going to be better than RE5 and 4. I think Capcom showed us great promise with the LiN dlc and Revelations is also shaping up to be a pretty good RE title. I think RE5's biggest mistake was that they were trying to create "a new type of fear" that exists in broad daylight. Didn't work Capcom. Also the co-op kinda took away from the experience. Don't get me wrong; RE5's co-op was really fun. It just wasn't RE to me. Capcom recently asked fans on Facebook to tell them what they want to see in future RE titles and what they think they're doing right and wrong with the series. I think Capcom may actually listen to the fans this time lol. I saw a lot of messages for zombies to be back as well as the dark and creepy feelings of the older games. Personally, I want that as well. Zombies were great and iconic. Sure they've been done to hell recently, but everyone loves zombies. And since zombies are slow, I think it would be great if in RE6, they made them crimson heads or just simply running zombies like in the first trailer of RE5. As far as returning characters, I'm hoping for either Claire or Rebecca. I know you must be thinking what my problem is for wanting Rebecca since a lot of the RE fanbase doesn't really like her. I just think she showed a lot of skill and promise back in RE0 and RE1. Some people like Leon for the fact that he was a rookie cop and survived the Raccoon City incident. Well Rebecca was only 18 which isn't even old enough to legally own and carry a handgun. And for her experience and age, surviving those two dangerous outbreak incidents was simply amazing. She surved while the rest of the Bravo team did not. That should say something. As far as Claire goes, I think she's really awesome and we haven't seen her since Code Veronica. Then she shows up in The Mercs 3D. I think that might be a sign. Lol I'm freaking out over RE6 even though Capcom will probably screw it up even more than RE5 |

| Capcom did not screw up RE5. Also, a lot of us here really like Rebecca. She is my third favorite RE character and my favorite female RE character. And the last time we saw Claire it was in Degeneration, not Code Veronica. |
