The cancelled "Arklay" series

There once was a TV show pitched to Capcom for the making of a TV series set during the investigation of the infamous Arklay murders. The same murders that were originally thought to have been carried out by cannibals or the like, the same that we now know were carried out by the undead.

So we all probably know about the "Arklay Pitch Reel" that was just comprised of scenes from various other shows and movies to set the mood and the tone of the would-be series. However, what is not as known is that the people making the show also made a short pilot film. One that is completely made from scratch and very much set in the Resident Evil universe we know and love. And the name of that film was... Dave. Yeah, not very catchy. Well, anyway, this video was posted on Vimeo a long time ago and I though it'd be nice to share it here as well.

Interesting, i've always thought that the early stages of an outbreak, when zombie attacks are mistaken for homicides was a concept with untapped potential.
Especially if there's an added mystery to solve. Discovering what's going on and why, brings another layer to the usual zombie fiction.

And Resident Evil is well suited for this kinda thing, what with all the corporate conspiracy stuff. Although it would probably work best as a mini-series, wouldn't want it to drag out too long.

I really enjoyed the video, even for how short it was.

I also found this website that the creator made in conjunction with the video. It is really neat and requires you to find a login, password and solve an anagram which can all be found in the video itself. If you manage to solve all of this you can find even more information that does a good job world building for what the creator was going for. ((you can find all of the login info with a quick google search also)).
