The coats of Nemesis and Mr. X

Until the Umbrella Chronicles, the material of what Nemesis and Mr. X wore was never revealed properly. In RE2 and RE3, they just appeared as trench coats and customized leather overcoats that bullets could penetrate and still draw blood, but in UC and DSC, they are displayed as being composed of materials that made bullets ricochet.

Now, what lightweight, flexible, weaved, clothes like fabric can make bullets ricochet as if they were composed of metal? I have seen it in certain science fiction films.

I thought they were just power limiters. The reason as to why 2 and 3 had blood coming out was because precise shooting wasn't available. No such thing as headshots unless you go lucky before RE4 came out.

Yes, they are meant to prevent mutation from occurring so that the specimen doesn't spin out of control. Now I think about it, a silver variation of their coat was used for a vigilante agent in Robocop: the TV series, I forget what it was composed of, but it was very much the same as the coats of Mr. X and Nemesis.
