See the difference? I sure do. That image was pulled from Godzilla 2000, the first Godzilla movie after the 1998. They bring up the American creature in it. They say that it is not Godzilla.

Ever heard of something called a retcon? Yeah, that's what happened here. When G98 was made, the "American creature" was Godzilla. The film originally had no connection to the original Toho canon, but was later adopted into it and that version of Godzilla renamed to distinguish it from the "original" one.

Retcon or not, that thing was NEVER Godzilla. IT is just an oversized iguana.

I thought that movie was the shit when I was a little kid. Honestly haven't seen it since I saw it in theatres. But my one complainy was that he didn't breath fire.

Rule number one of being Godzilla: fucking look like Godzilla. It fails this. It failsthis HARD. Godzilla is not in that movie.

It was Godzilla when the movie was made. That's a fact. Otherwise, why doesn't anyone in it think to mention another giant mutant lizard with a history of terrorizing Japan? That's kind of something the whole world would know about.

The Chris Redfield introduced in RE5 hardly looks anything like the one we were all familiar with, yet we all have to accept that it's still him. Different character, same idea.

Even in today's canon it's still technically a Godzilla movie since the thing is a subspecies. I liked it way more than the utterly stupid son of Godzilla.

See, I'm not saying it's the actual Godzilla. I'm just saying things how they are. I have a certain love for all kinds of spinoffs and, to be honest, if it wasn't for the American version I would never have gotten into Godzilla movies.

The movie sucks shit through a bendy straw, and Godzilla is not in it.
