Do you think re7 should take place 20 years after the mansion incident or not? Just seems like 20 years is a bit of a landmark.

It will take place near the year of it's development, just like every other main numbered title. If Capcom's plans about a new main RE game being released in 2015 are accurate, that means the game will be set around that time. So, to answer your question, it'll take place about 17 or so years after the Mansion Incident.
