Well whoever it was, we would have to ask what they would be doing in the movie to begin with, but Ashley was only the damsel in distress. I'm not sure if I would believe vacation in Europe, but since this does take place before Resident Evil 6, maybe her father is still the president, they could somehow the president into the story, thus bringing Ashley into the mix... somehow..

So, I replayed RE4 yesterday, just to hear ashley's voice. And yep, it's like her voice. Too bad, my saved game was corrupted after that. xD

So damn it. Why would they bring back Ashley anyway?

Now it's getting clear to me. Just like Mass said, this film will reveal the secret of C-Virus. How it created and who is the true responsible for it. Could be the bridge of RE5 and RE6.
