| Damnit, I'm late to the party! While Sean Connery will always be a favorite because, well let's face it, he's Sean Fucking Connery, I am a huge fan of Craig. In keeping with the books, particularly the first novel written by Ian Fleming, Casino Royale, he is actually the best of all of them for looking like "Bond". Granted it's not the persona introduced by the film franchise, but that was the whole point of these new films. It was basically a reboot, taking Bond back to the beginning and showing how he turned from a cocky kid to a coldblooded ladiesman. |

That was supposedly the idea, but I think Bond is Bond, whatever the time in his life. He was Bond James Bond during this whole film, and while he made some mistakes at the beginning, it was just to get the ball rolling. Remember, Bond was a special ops military commander, training the elite SAS types before he was 00. Then he turned 30 and was recruited by MI-6, where he worked various covert operations. He wasnt a rookie, he was 38 when he became 007, he already had years of experience for christ sake. He served in the royal navy during operation grandbury, and participated in operations all over the world. Thats the major FAIL I find in Casino, trying to tell people he was just some rookie kid. Anyway, doesnt make me love the film any less. @miss claire redfield You dont find DC attractive? Im a hetero dude and Ive even thought about it!! LOL well you are 19, maybe your into the boyband justin bieber type guys... |

You need shot man just for uttering that little girl's name on an RE board! *coughcough* Erm... Anyways. Personally Daniel Craig is ok in my opinion. I wouldn't consider him 'pounce worthy' in my book though. Now Pierce Brosnan is pounce worthy. I have to fish those dvds out now and watch them. Think I'll pop one in before work today. |

He doesn't look at all the role, which is probably what kills him for me. In comparision to certain others anyway, Brosnan and Connery. |

| I love Craig as Bond. Even though he doesn't follow the precedent set by Connery or others, I think he's great in the role. He's a darker, grittier Bond in my opinion. Which is part of what made Casino Royale so great. Give me a Bond who drives real cars, without rocket launchers, whose watch's only function is to tell time, and who bleeds when hit. |

Well rather than pander to the 1%, you, they should make Bond the cool guy that Every woman wants and every man wants to be. |

Well rather than pander to the 1%, you, they should make Bond the cool guy that Every woman wants and every man wants to be. Yeah one percent. Whatever. The world welcomed and enjoyed Craig as Bond, who actually brought the realness to the actual character, paying some respect to Flemings creation. And Craig is Bond. Deal with it. Hes awesome, when I watched Casino, I went out and got the Bond haircut, bought myself the polo shirt that he uses in the caribbean. I wanted to be him 100X. And the ladies love Bond. Always. Craig is considered an attractive man by women, winning the sexiest whatever title in a famous magazine, hes banging Rachel Weizs, and hes the highest paid actor in Britain. Craig is Bond, James Bond, and a damn good one. Get over it. If you want campy tomfoolery go watch austin powers, or Roger Moores antics, buying 18 year old girls ice cream after banging them. Im gonna stick with the modern real Bond. You be the one percent boy. |

Casino Royale was a terrific movie, with awesome music, a great plot, characters, story, etc. The realism was definatley nice. And while Craig's performance was nice, he just isn't Bond. I still don't know why they elected him, in a sea of actors, who not only look and can play the role just as well, if not better. Quantum was just a dissapointment. Not just because of Craig, but they also dropped the ball with the story. WTH happend to Bond's nemesis, SPECTRE, where his personal nemesis was a big part of, Number 1, Ernst Stavro Blofeld? Yeah, Greene didn't really do it for me. And I didn't find the, Another Way To Die theme from Keyes and that dude from White Stripes as good as it's predecessor's theme from Cornell, You Know My Name, which I'd probably rank up there with top tracks from Shirley Bassey, like Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker. Not to mention other fav's from Carley Simon, The Spy Who Loved Me's Nobody Does It Better, and McCartney's Live And Let Die, which are two other Moore films. And previous Bond's were real. Brosnan, Connery, and certain Dalton. Just not as modern. And while having gadgets and machine gun turrets and rocket launchers on your Astin Martin isn't exactly realistic, while still possible, it's still part of what makes James Bond, James Bond, boy. 00Spike knows what 007 is, and if you want a realistic spy type movie, go watch Matt Damon in the Bourne movies, that might be more your taste. While I like Damon and all, clearly that's more of the realism you seem to expect from the 007 movies, after like what, 21 or 22 movies of gadgets, girls and a real Bond? Ok, we'll see who the 1 percent is browskie, try again. Daniel Craig isn't the man that women want, and men want to be. Nuff said. If I want Bond, I'll watch a Connery or Brosnan film, or heck, even play a 007 game, in which Brosnan is still James Bond, Execpt for the most recent two or three releases, starring Craig. |

Missed this one too. When will you stop being wrong? when I mean realism from a Bond film, I don't mean 100% realism, that would be boring stupid and pointless. Bond pursuing the parkour dude Mollaka at the beginning of Casino? the Miami airport scene? yeah, that's not realism bro, that's still escapism. Bond and the plane scene in Quantum? ESCAPISM. Those things are not very possible, the thing is, that while watching these films, these amazing things happen, but they don't fall into camp or lazy writing, like most of the abhorrent Moore or Brosnan films. And Dalton, was an excellent Bond. Connery's first three were fine. So was goldeneye. But tell me you can sit down and watch Moonraker and not cringe at the pure idiocy. The first Connery films were about escapism, exotic locations, expensive cars and women. That's what James Bond has returned to with the Craig films, but for the 21st century. It's a believable spy flick but you know it's fantasy, escapism. Sort of like the batman films. You believe them, they seem more real for narrative purposes, but when you really read the plot and analyze the situations, you realize how improbable they really are. But that doesn't matter because the director and the writers present it to the audience in an exciting, fresh and NEW perspective. Not the repetitive idiotic formulas the Brosnan films retook. Die another day was the last straw. Even Barbara Brocolli noticed how stupid the films got and rebooted the franchise. If they didn't care about Bond they wouldn't have, since DAD grossed tons of money. But they had the good sense of doing an actual Bond film, keeping close to the source material, making it a big escapist fantasy, but presenting it in a realistic and detailed light. Just how the movies were supposed to be, and Fleming INTENDED IT to be. PS: I agree about Quantum's lazy writing, but keep in mind that it was released during the writer's strike, that even Craig pitched in for the script, and due to the high demand for the next Bond film, they released it anyway. The power of money I guess. |

I don't understand what you're getting at. Yes, the reboots are more realistic than it's predecessors, the films with Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan, but obviously the newer 007 films, Casino, Quantum and that latest one that I haven't seen just yet, still have things about them that make them Bond like. I'm not a fan of Craig as Bond, not the direction they are taking the movies. Though is it too much to ask for a freakin laser watch? - Quote :

Wait, Die Another Day was awesome. I was actually pleasantly suprised when I saw it for the first time, as I had expected something not too great. I mean, Brosnan has at least 2 good films to his name, GoldenEye, obviously, and DAD was good too. Craig has Casino and I've heard that new one, Skyfall is good, so I'll have to see. And I'm not say that Moore was that great, I mean I enjoyed him, Live And Let Die is one of my personal fav's from all of the 007 films, but I did think he was a little too, maybe goofy. He wasn't my ideal 007. Obviously Connery and Brosnan are it. Based on the look, and the portrayal of the character. If the films were good, like Connery's always were, then that's better. I found Tomorrow Never Dies and World Is Not Enough to be a tad boring, but still ok. I mean, TWINE had Denise Richards after all, tha's a win for the Bond girl anyway! Dr. Christmas Jones. I'd probably take Hugh Jackman for 007. Maybe, but he'd have to retract his claws when playing the role. |
