That's so funny that you drug this topic out. I was literally just watching some RE4 scenes, especially the Separate Ways stuff with Wesker/Ada. Brilliant. "Hurry up and retrieve the sample" @Nite, there is a certain cheesiness I guess, but in a good way. DC Douglas just sounds like a random crazy guy. Possibly homosexual. Still kinda cool at times, but overall pretty horrid. Like in RE5, if you mute the scenes with Wesker it's not too bad. |

| I liked the live action cast. Wesker had like a pair of aviators, gold frames black lenses. Not at all like what he wore in the game, RE1 or any other. Jill was cute, Chris had extra obnoxious tall hair, Barry....he was just funny. And Becca, hell, she didn't even appear in the opening cutscene but showed up in the opening credits. Kind of like, who the hell is that?!
Oh and can't forget Joseph, "Hey over here!" *waving hand in the air* just to get horribly eaten by dinosaur close up looking things that they want us to believe are zombie dogs. Or horribly rendered Brad flying away in the helicopter. |

Interesting side by side comparison of the cast, then and now. Sweet jesus Chris has not aged well. No Barry? |

I would totally love it if Chris looked like that in his retirement days. |

Richard Waugh's had a much darker, more sinister...yet cocky undertone, if that makes sense. YES YES YES. That's it. It DOES sound a bit too nasaly. It's less deep and more nerdy. |

| I wanted to choose both :{
I really like them both equally, they've got their own personality for Wesker. |

"I don't need anyone else, I have UROBOROS!" Exactly. Not what Wesker sounded like before, and therefore different, and while different isn't always bad, in this case, since we already had a well established voice for him, different is just annoying, and bad. @Meth, sorry, no option to select both. Wait, is this a Poll? They definately have DIFFERENT personalities, and that's what I don't like about Douglas' version. It's not like the Wesker that I liked. It's kinda cool in it's own right, Douglas' version, but it's just different. Why make such a change this late in the series, with a character that's been around for so long, idk, but obviously not a fan. |

We've gone through this Spike, Wesker has the same character and personality in RE5 that he's had throughout the entire series. |

| I've decided to change my vote after watching samples of all the Wesker Voice Actors: D.C. Douglas has a PERFECT Wesker voice in Umbrella Chronicles at some parts and terrible spotty performances at other parts. I guess it's hard to emote when doing that particular voice. But in RE5, while not perfect, by changing Wesker's voice he gave a much more stable performance with a wider range of emotions. Near Perfect Wesker Voice (Umbrella Chronicles): - Cool, calm, intellectual, but fails miserably when trying to show certain emotions. - Sounds great at most parts: https://youtu.be/dziPIwpNk2o- https://youtu.be/zLnpPDX5MUc- Sounds terrible at some parts, especially when ending sentences in Umbrella Chronicles https://youtu.be/w2xujmJ7XSY?t=26s and "It's beautifaaaaaal". it's just out of character and creepy. - During Umbrella Chronicles Wesker would say "Chraaawwwwsss" really weird and annoying. - Voice actor: D.C. Douglas surprisingly (slighly nasaly, slightly accented, but more emotive). In RE0: Near Perfect. - Voice Sounds REALLY Good at most parts https://youtu.be/FEHtMjFXQhU?t=2m43s but sounds like he's reading lines off a script. - Breaks character just a little at emotions like right when he says "What Happened" https://youtu.be/FEHtMjFXQhU?t=20s- Voice actor: Richard Waugh (A really good non nasaly, non british, less emotive Wesker) In RE1 Remake: - Too normal sounding, too high pitched https://youtu.be/tRNsVBh89K8?t=25s- Voice actor: Peter Jessop In RE Code Veronica X: - No nasaly voice. - It's alright, but spotty performance https://youtu.be/8jRUO2VEpUM?t=1m7s and sounds like a young voice actor faking an older character at times. - Voice actor: Richard Waugh D.C. Douglas RE5 Wesker is much MUCH better at Emotions and voice acting. Although the voice is higher pitched and more Nasaly it conveys a wider range of emotion MUCH better. Wesker sounds a bit more condesending with the Nasaly voice and more intelligent with the little 4% British accent. - https://youtu.be/JzRRAtH0bg8?t=7mAnother change to Wesker's Character in RE5. He has real blond hair in the previous REs but in RE5 he has this California bleached highlighed blond hair. After watching RE0, RE1, RE CVX, RE4 I have to say I changed my mind, D.C. Douglas is a MUCH better Wesker and a much more emotive voice actor than the others. I don't like the Nasaly wesker but D.C. emotes so much better. Any complaints we have about Wesker's personality changes are because of the Script, not necessarily D.C. Douglas. Capcom changed Wesker's personality starting with Code Veronica X and cementing it with RE5: before that he would never stab or yell or scream in rage. He was always the cool and confident villain. Then again, everybody has a breaking point. And by emotionizing wesker they made him much more interesting. They still failed at his personality and motives but his emotions in RE5 were very well done. I can't imagine RE1 & RE0 Wesker in RE5... That'd be boring. D. C. Douglas just adjusted to the new Wesker and I like him best. Now.... which version of D.C. Douglas is best? Umbrella Chronicles or RE5? *goes crazy* |

To quote BioPrince from YouTube comments "No, he never used to do that, that is one of the lot of things they fucked up on his personality in re5, he never used to impale his enemies, to scream and rage or even to get that angry, [he'd make] just a quick angry face, not the maniac reactions on RE5" And I'd have to agree, they did change Wesker to emote more. |

And I'd have to agree, they did change Wesker to emote more. No double-posting fool!!! Douglas might've been acceptable, if he had been here before Waugh, but since Waugh was here, maybe not exactly first, he really established the voice. There was a real intimidation and tension with Chris/Wesker in CVX. Just a real nice quality I can only compare to Batman/Joker, or The Rock/Stone Cold fuelds. This is really because the CVX VA's for Chris and Wesker in that game. They brought the best out in those characters. As I said, Douglas just sounds kinda like some random crazy guy or something. @Bio, he's totally different in RE5 and UC. Not all of it, but most. I still say that he'd be cool in RE5 still, if he was exactly as he is, stupid coat and ridiculous barrel-rolling and all, if he only had Waugh as his VA still. The fued with Chris/Wesker wouldn't have felt sooo.....dissapointing. I mean even Chris' VA is different in RE5, so it's almost like a new fued between Chris/Wesker. It's Roger Craig Smith vs DC Douglas, instead of a continuation of the fued from CVX. Douglas doesn't emote too well. "I'm just getting STARTED!" He sounded stupid. "This isn't over Chris!", "Ah there you are!". Random crazy british guy. Waugh didn't sound brit so much, and Wesker originally sounded way more American, so Waugh really stays more true to Wesker than overly british Douglas does. Or doesn't for that matter. |
