| Lightning Farron from Final Fantasy XIII. I'm probably screwed. Granted, the other five you play as are also technically main characters. So that's 6 people. Shit. |

Wait, who? Claire Redfield at the time of that post. I am playing RE3 now and Jill probably would not want to give me a hug at the moment... |

That can be said for just about any firearm, suppressed or not, as long as the shooter hits you in the head. Any supersonic round is going to impact before the sonic crack reaches the target's ears. |

Personally I'd rather have a bigger bullet that I can fire from a mountain away (e.g., .338 Lapua Magnum or .416 Barrett) that's only partially suppressed, than an ultra-quiet one (like 9x39mm) that I have to crawl in extremely close to be able to use accurately. I'm not trashing the Vintorez or its cartridge, just I have a different tactical preference. |

I'm not trashing the Vintorez or its cartridge, just I have a different tactical preference. VSS VINTOREZ - Vintovka Spetsialnaia SNaiperskaia - Special task Sniper Rifle . Its not meant to be fired from an incredible distance like say SVD or even more so Cheytac, its made specially for special forces "Spetsnaz" and is effective in a 400 m range. Though it uses 9 mm special Russian cartridge its known for its extreme power and minimal recoil, plus unlike other rifles it has an Automatic (extremely accurate) mode so that sniper if needed (cs he is in the action area and not miles away) can shoot 30 cartridge magazine and fight back like a marine (with once again extremely fast and accurate shots! they even use automatic mode when shooting from distance) . Its extremely effective and useful, plus cs its VSS all the parts of the weapon has specific and extremely low sound so it very hard to tell where sniper is shooting from even standing 50 m from him. I consider VSS to be another innovation of 20th century just as its big brother AK 47, plus in the mid 80s Soviets have made AS "val" Avtomat specialni - special task rifle and OC Groza - first bulpup Soviet rifle . . . So russian spec ops are equipped as hell . . . Trust me you dont want to be a person which Spetsnaz is ordered to take down . . . |

I'm just saying I have different tactical preferences and would rather be able to take my target down from beyond 1200 meters than have to risk being compromised and possibly killed by going in close. |

Yea yea i see, but what i mean is that Vintorez is more useful then just a Rifle cs its VSS and ment for special actions, when say with a rifle you need that long range to be useful otherwise its quite easy to determine where sniper is shooting from, plus sniper always needs a side weapon (not just a pistol but Submachine gun) for close range actions when special task rifle can be used as both sniper and simple Rifle. Why i like Vintorez so much is that a Sniper must be a Real bad ass cs he's just feets away from his mark and must remain invisible, i think that its much harder then just to find urself a cozy spot on the top of a mountain and have fun as if ur in shooting range. As for spetsnaz, when its not specified which spetsnaz He/she is talking about, its always meant to be the GRU Spetsnaz - Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye Generalnovo Shtaba - Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff . Its best among others and as far as i remember the oldest . . . |

Shooting from the extremely long ranges that a caliber like .338 Lapua Mag is effective out to isn't a cakewalk, you have to take windage, elevation, and the coriolis effect into account. It gets even more challenging if your target is moving around. It's much more challenging than popping off rounds at a shooting range. |

Imagine doing the same thing in a close range action when tons of hostiles move around you. you literally must become a bush I understand that its a science to make a shot from that range since even the softest breeze can change the direction of bullet, but doing the same thing while being close to an enemy is truly a badass stuff . . . |

Imagine doing the same thing in a close range action when tons of hostiles move around you. you literally must become a bush :DI understand that its a science to make a shot from that range since even the softest breeze can change the direction of bullet, but doing the same thing while being close to an enemy is truly a badass stuff . . . I consider going home alive more important than proving I'm a "badass", but each to his own. |

- Well since the main character of the last game that ive played (play everyday) has VSS Vintorez, i probably wont even know when im "screwed" . . .
That can be said for just about any firearm, suppressed or not, as long as the shooter hits you in the head. Any supersonic round is going to impact before the sonic crack reaches the target's ears. Exactly and especially if its VSS Vintorez . . . .
I consider VSS to be another innovation of 20th century just as its big brother AK 47, plus in the mid 80s Soviets have made AS "val" Avtomat specialni - special task rifle and OC Groza - first bulpup Soviet rifle . . . So russian spec ops are equipped as hell . . . Trust me you dont want to be a person which Spetsnaz is ordered to take down . . . I know all this about the Vintorez, believe me, and I'm not discounting Spetsnaz in any way (though you don't mention which Spetsnaz you're talking about, the word is rather equivalent to the US military umbrella term "Special Operations Forces" and refers to a number of units; are you talking about Gruppa Alfa, Vympel, or another special purpose unit?) nor am I trying to start some pointless squabble about "who's better".
Yea absolutely agree, it should be the main task to bring Soldier home safe, but its still WAR or Spec Op, where soldiers are sent simply to die sooner or later(they just replace them with new ones), the decisions are made by fat useless generals with big stars on their shoulders when young people of my age or even younger are sent there to meet the fire. There is no more Patriotism and if it ever was now its gone, its simply gas, oil and land. So at least the way I see it is that no one cares if the soldier/spec op will come home safe . . . |
