| I think we're already have a thread on this. The top ten favorite games. Well, as of mine I used to play Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, Chaos Legion. I also play Grand Theft, but not that much. |

| We also have a thread for favorite series. I just updated my top 10 so you can see my favorite games there. I'll just say my number one: Cave Story. That game is freeware but it was so good that I now want to buy the retail version. As for my favorite series, there's many. Aside from RE, the other two in my top 3 are Disgaea and Final Fantasy. The rest you can see here: [link]What I'm currently playing... there's too many to name here. |

Currently playing, or actually replaying, FFXIII and Ninja Gaiden Sigma on hard mode. |

Which one? I have no idea what the story is, or how it goes so I was just going to start with the first one they brought out for PS1. What would you suggest if I actually wanted to get into it? |

Just any one that seems interesting to you, as they all have their own storyline. It really depends on preference. BUT I actually meant which one was the game you had. |

He said the first one on the PS1, so I guess Final Fantasy VII. |

| Ah sorry, and I think it was the first one they brought out - I just remember it being in a plain white case if that helps And okay, I thought they all interlinked with eachother. I'll have a look around and see which one I fancy most - How many are there? |

There's 13 of the main games and all their sequels, in addition to a gazillion spinoffs. Only the sequels to the main games (like X-2) continue the story of the previous game. - ThomVD wrote:

He said the first one on the PS1, so I guess Final Fantasy VII. No he didn't. He said "it originally game with the PS".

@Tunstall: There are 13 original main games, and X and XIII both have a sequel. So in total 15 main games. |

He was going to START with the first one on the PS but I was asking what was the game he used to have. In addition to the sequels those games had there's also the Ivalice Alliance and Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Also a bunch more, come to think of it. |

| I meant with my first post in which I mentioned FFVII. And you didn't really have to correct me, since I was right . |

You were right but you were referring to the wrong post as he originally never mentioned the one he had being the first one released on the PS. |

He was just thinking about starting with the first one on the PS, not saying it was the one he used to have. |

| I thought he was referring to that first post with the second one. That he was going to start with the first one, so bought it and never played it. |

| According to the post, he got the game with the PS when he got the console. - TUNSTALL37 wrote:

Ergo he doesn't have it anymore. The second post was about him thinking of starting with the series now, just with the first one on the PS. |

| @Mass: Ah, I get it now.
If you allow me to recommend a FF game, I say IX or X (like I said earlier).
IX basically shows the best what the series is about. It has everything that makes Final Fantasy the series it is. It was actually intended to be a big tribute for the series, but it also happened to become one of their most acclaimed games. It has the highest average review score and is the creator's favorite.
X is a good combination of a modern game with most of the great things from the old games still intact. It has voice acting, graphics that still hold up today (there's also an HD remake coming for the PS3), a battle and ability system that is very simple and the game is also a bit on the easy side overall. It's really easy to get into the game and perfect for a first FF. It is also still a game that follows the series classic formula, unlike the games released after it. The only problem is that they got rid of the overworld map. The game is quite linear but a good story makes up for that.
You can choose for yourself of course, like mass said, but this is just some advice.

| I would've recommended VII or XII but it really is for the best to choose the one you think you might like the best. What might be the greatest thing for one might be a disappointement to the other. |

| I didn't recommend those two just because I like them the most (I like FFVII better than X), but I think those two are the best choices for newcomers to the series. VII could be possible too, but the graphics are EXTREMELY outdated. I don't know if Tunstall cares about that. XII doesn't really seem like a good choice if you want to get into the series, considering how totally different it is from other FF games. |
