Mercenaries thread

Okay, so the upgrade in Mercs 3D that makes it so you cause more damage to boss enemies is easily the best upgrade ever. Even at level two it annihilates boss enemies. It's simply beast.

Super Salvador doesn't seem so bad now.

Now that RE6 is out with its somewhat short lived Mercenaries mode, it's time to revive this thread.

I do like it that you can get as much as 9 characters and their alt. costumes but only three maps to boot is staggeringly low.

Thus far the only thing I've unlocked is Helena by getting a B rank in the first stage.

Was sitting playing Mercs last night online, we were doing amazing and had about 20 seconds left when the game finished itself and I got an S rank and not one thing unlocked. What the hell was that all about? The other guy didn't quit either as I asked him. Fucking strange. Makes me think twice of playing mercs again if its just going to quit when im about to unlock the next character etc.

Ive only unlocked Jakes alternative costume and ive one map left to unlock which I will get once I finish the game.

Maybe you just hit the enemy limit. There's 150 enemies in one stage, the counter is in the upper left corner.

Maybe you had already unlocked whatever it was to unlock?

Never knew there was an enemy limit, which is just shit imo.

the only thing ive unlocked is Jakes alternative and im pretty sure it was in urban chaos but I could be wrong.

Beating Urban Chaos with at least a B should've given you Helena. That's weird.

Btw. The enemy limit has been there since RE4. I don't think the timer stopped in that game but I remember running out of enemies.

I believe RE5 had an enemy limit as well. I don't think you can unlock anything by playing Duo.

So far, I've unlocked RPD Helena, Puffy coat Jake, Samurai Chris. I'm guessing I have to complete Chris and Sherry's campaign to unlock Piers and Sherry and the other two maps.

I still can't get over this three map crap. The rest of the maps better be free

Anyway, I'm really enjoying mercs. Better than RE5, IMO.

Fuck me ive been spending hours playing online hoping to unlock other characters lol. Solo it is then.

I have every single alternate costume except Sherry's, I even have Ada's lol.

I've been playing a ton of RE6's Mercs. It's fantastic, despite the lack of stages and no Wesker. I pre-ordered from GameStop so I got the Catacombs, which is a really fun level.

I find that all of the characters are very good, except Ada takes some getting use to, since you pretty much have to rely on Bow Gun head shots. Clara is pretty unremarkable, just a handgun and a grenade launcher.

What I'm wondering is how you get Costume 2. I've seen people with them (spoiler alert: they're simply re-colors) but I looked it up and it's supposed to be DLC.

The only DLC I care for is Wesker DLC, as far as Mercs go. You can go a long way with just seven stages and that many different weapon sets, but without Wesker, Mercs just feels like it's missing something important. He's like a trademark character for that mode.

I don't feel like they should add any dead characters in the Mercs. Jake is all the Wesker I need.

The re-colour Costume 2 chars are bought for 60000 RE Points on RE.net (That thing that's like the CoD Elite thing, except better)

I seem to be doing that quite a lot now btw, jumping into a topic, replying to someone else, but not talking about the actual topic, it's a habit I guess, anyways.

RE4: None
RE5: Public Assembly or Jail
RE6: Urban Chaos (haven't tried most of the others though)

Least Fave Stages:
RE4: Waterworld
RE5: Mines (Only a little), That facility bit from 5 - 2
RE6: They're all pretty fine so far.

Fave Chars:
RE4: Leon... I guess (Really not a big RE4 Mercs fan)
RE5: Both Weskers
Reunion: Excella or Rebecca
RE6: Pirate Leon or Helena

Least Fave Chars:
RE4: Not played it long enough to hate them all
RE5: Sheva BSAA
Reunion: Josh
RE6: Chris (Only because he gets no health tablets at all)

To be honest, it's a fun mode, but it irritates the hell out of me when you're getting a great score and then you get an ass rape by some boss or a horde of enemies

So far(I don't have Piers, Ada or Carla yet) my favs are..

Default Sherry

Her load out is similar to Business Sheva(my fav from RE5): L.Hawk and pistol. She's also packing some healing items in case $h!t hits tha fan. I only use the single shot setting on the Triple Shot, the burst just burns up too much ammo. L. Hawk is great for fast kills and boss enemies.

RPD Helena

Not a great load out: her Uzi is a pea shooter that burns ammo fast and her Sniper Rifle is single shot. However, she's one of my favs because her 3 flame grenades makes quick work of those annoying bloodsheds. Aim for the head against zombies and weapon switch cancel with the sniper rifle against boss enemies.

Default Chris

L.Hawk for boss enemies, Grenades for crowd control, Assault Rifle for Assaulting. Just don't get hit.


My Least favorite character: Default Helena. Hydra is a terrible weapon.

So after unlocking everyone, my top 5.....

Default Sherry

Same reason as before

Schoolgirl Sherry

Bear Commander and the best shotgun in the game: Beast Mode

Carla

Freeze Rounds for instant melee kills, acid rounds for instant coupe de grace against bloodsheds, explosive rounds for obese zombies.

Dead Aim Ada

Ada in a dress......Nuff said

*SPOILERS* My top 5 favorites are:

- Carla
- Leon
- Sherry (school girl)
- Ada
- and Piers (BSAA, not that ridiculous race car uniform)

Costume wise I'm disappointed they didn't give Chris and Piers their casual clothing. As far as the mode itself goes; I'm having fun. It's 10 times better than RE5's. I think the highest enemy kill I got while playing solo was 105? lol! Guess I have to keep practicing.

Anyone know how to unlock Carla? it says you need to unlock all characters and there other costumes. Done that but still no Carla?

If you bought any of the costumes on RE.net; they don't count. You have to score at least an "A" with the default characters to unlock their outfits. After that, you should be able to obtain Carla.

Can't wait to get RE6

Ah right was thinking that as I bough a couple from RE.NET.

I did the same thing too haha. Only with Piers though since it was difficult to get an A in any stage I played in. If only I knew about this earlier, I could've saved those points ;; .

I finally got a perfect 150 combo in solo!

I used default Sherry on Urban Chaos.

Feel the need to Bump this thread in light of my most recent Mercs experience.

While I did play some RE6 Mercs on a friends Ps3 recently, which I believe I even posted about, I even more recently played some Mercs3D, which was a blast. Haven't had that much fun with that game in well...never.

I've started using BSAA Jill. She's got a nice machine gun, a knife, and a shotgun. Pretty good combo. Great for getting good combos, especially with the perks I have, although she isn't so well set up to take on too many of the boss characters, unless I pick up grenades, or have a partner with something better to take down a Giant Dr. Salvador.

I used to use Krauser, but Jill has taken me lately. I got a 600K score just earlier. I don't even remember which level, but my previously high score was 400K on the RE4 Village.

Until recently, I hadn't been making these kind of scores..
