| Subject: Resident Evil 1 problems... Need a genius. Wed Jun 01, 2011 1:49 pm | |
| Hi, I just recently installed Resident Evil 1 on my laptop and for some unknown reason, the sub screen, where I would use items, switch weapons, etc, won't open. Every time I push the button assigned to open it, it opens the options menu. Even the f-series button assigned won't open it. Is there a solution to this? Re-installing won't work, it's in 95 compatibility mode, run as administrator. Still nothing. I need help! I can't kill the zombies with nothing... =P |

| I take it that you have tried online guides etc... AND that you have tried in 98 compatibility while trying to configure the button settings. Which key do you have set for the inventory? I'll try to look this up.
Oh, one more thing: Is the version you have the original cd, a pirated version or a downloaded version?
Aaaaaaaand what's your os, Vista? If it is, you might need a patch. |

| I have tried 98 compatibility and that didn't work either. I do have a pirated version but the responses to it said everything was working. I currently work off of Windows 7. I had A to open the options and Z to open the subscreen, but I tried to shuffle them around to see if anything would change. |

| That's usually the problem on pirated games. They don't work on every computer. If I were you I'd either get another version or the original.
I must admit that I have no experience on Windows 7 so I don't know if it's a problem with the OS. |

| I'm starting to think it is, because I downloaded a different torrent and the same problem persists. I have windows 7 64 bit. Maybe it's the fact it's 64 bit and there is something I have to do because of that? I am just taking stabs in the dark at this point. I really hope someone can help me. |

| While it's a different torrent it could still be the same file. Still, it might be your computer. I'm pretty much beaten here. Try on a different comp? |

| Well I am a U.S. Soldier in Germany. I only have my own personal computer. Damn this is a bummer. Can you direct me where I can get this game? I can't get anything shipped to me right now so internet is the only way to go. |

| If it was a problem with the cutscenes or in game music then I would be able to help but as Mass pointed out it sound like it is the copy try buying the full version or (wouldnt advice ) downloading a copy I had the same problem with RE3 on the pc because I used a copy to start with but now bought a full cd |

| Does anyone know a website where I could purchase the game for a digital download? As I said before I am a U.S. soldier and where I am right now, well I can't really have too much physical stuff here. |

| ussually digital downloads wil only be on the official websites or distrubters website Plus resident evil 1 never became shareware so I dont think you can get a digital copy unless you download another copied verson of the game, because I think you can only get it as hardcopy (aka a disc) |

| I tried looking around the forums rules and I didn't see anything about this being wrong so I apologize if it's against the rules. I really can't have any extra on what I have here already and it looks like I will be in the same situation for some time, can anyone give my the link to a torrent of RE1 that works? I would really appreciate it. |

| If anyone has it, PM it.
I know it's not in the rules but we try not to support pirated files here. |

| I really do appreciate all the help and advice you have given me. My posting right now is so boring and playing the oldies is helping pass the time. I just wish I could Amazon order it but personal belonging isn't really recommended for me and deliveries is certainly a no go. Again you have my thanks for trying. |
