If this turns out to be the next Outbreak I wonder if it will be a PS3 exclusive, like the earlier ones that were only for the PS2.
Definitely not. Capcom will not miss out on all the money they will get from the 360 crowd.

Resident Evil: Outbreak was a good concept but it fell short of what could have been great for the series. Multiplayer team-based Resident Evil, please Capcom, you might as well throw in Zeus, a rocket launcher combined with a lightsabre, Jill Valentine with no hair, and a revival of Nemesis (in his liquidated form) along with a one-hundred player co-op mode.
I remember not that long ago reading an article where I think that it was Shinji Mikami who stated that Japanese developers are trailing behind their Western counterparts and need to catch up by any means necessary. So if this is true and Capcom follows suit (well actually if Capcom sells out), prepare to say goodbye to Resident Evil, or even a big hello if you like Rambo mixed with Lord of the Rings. I know, I'm so negative, I guess my posts are like Marmite.

Now it's pretty much certain that the game they are developing truly isn't RE6, but actually a new Outbreak kind of game.
It might be a prequel and introduce new characters. Could this be the "reboot" while not being the actual sequel?
Thanks to Grace for reminding me of this
Btw. changed my sig to hype the game.

I don't know about you but I found the Outbreaks to be pretty great for the series. They took a great location we knew from RE2 & RE3, made it look pretty, some nice music, new stuff too, and we got a great couple of games.
If they make a new one, I'll be first in line.

Just found this, concerning the Raccoon City game.
"Many Slant Six employees, former and current, list on their LinkedIn profiles a "multiplayer action game" for Xbox 360 and PS3." -from TrueAchievements.com
That would imply that the game in development is going to be a multiplatform.

Capcom has changed their development policy and they are having more and more western developers make their games. A lot of Japanese publishers are thinking along the same lines. Multiplayer action huh? I wonder if it is even referring to the RE game?

I read about Slant six devolping the new resident evil a while back and my first reaction was WTF!!! yet again with turning RE into a fricking action game like RE4 and 5 we need to go BACK to the old style ! or at least something new and fresh thats still has zombies and still is slightly like the old way RE was. Personally I would love it to go back the old way, infact even the remake was amazing, something like the remake would be good with slight changes like, better game mechanics and of coarse HD graphics. Plus keep the fixed camera angles thats what gave the game a disturbing ambaince the fact that to turn a corner was nerve racking lol anyway the game will go pretty well aslong as if its action-ish then please let it be a spin off like RE outbreaks because they didn't really have anything to do with the storyline of the RE games

Did you read the whole thread? This is going to be a game having zombies and the old horror element. It is already rumored that this could be the new Outbreak everybody's been waiting for.
I'm ok with the 3rd person style camera angle we have now, horror games can be done well with what we have now.
And hey, Outbreaks did have some interesting storyline and even characters from the main series. It's still pretty controversial if they're canon or not but I'd like to think so. Besides, I found Outbreak to be pretty scary at times.

Okay you caught me I might have skipped a page and oh that sounds very interesting to be honest cant wait to see the outcome of the game. I wasn't implying outbreak was a bad game I enjoyed outbreak, it was something new and your right it was scary at time, especially the fact that you needed to rush through the chapters before youu died of the virus and also the fact you couldn't stop or the enemies would come through doors and get you.

I would appreciate if you never said the phrase "even the REmake was amazing" again. It implies that it shouldn't have been or something. Of course the REmake was amazing. It's one of the best RE games ever and my personal favorite.

I typo'd I meant to say "even the remake way would be fine" but just noticed a left out a unforgivable amount of wording there lol didn't mean it like that, but sorry if it offended you
