A Sad Day Indeed...

My beloved PlayStation 3 took its last breath today. It served well during the five years I had it, through nonstop gaming. Not only that, it also survived from having two subsequent owners, travelling quite a lot and going through two repairs and one refurbishing. Even though it was my fourth Sony console it was only the second console to break on me. It will be truly missed.

*silence* ....you could just let mine bite it since mine is undead(it 'died' years ago from the YLOD) but it still works and to this day I haven't a clue why it still does....anyway I know how you feel dude =/

Seems like I have to revive mine one more time. I also need to get a new external hard drive just to copy all my data there. Not only that but I need to get PlayStation Plus for cloud saving because some of the save files are copy protected for some god forsaken reason. This got more expensive than I thought.

Turns out that just swapping the HDD to a new PS3 doesn't work. The heat gun thingy should give me a few days worth of play time out of the old one, enough for me to copy all the data in there.

Wait swapping the HDD doesn't work...?! That doesn't make any sense…

Ps3 have always had encrypted HDD's so in other words the HDD you have in one ps3 will only work with that ps3 it won't work on another one, its bad enough some saves are protected but to have the entire HDD DRM style locked only to one console is shitty =_=

That really is horrible planning. They clearly made the systems faulty at the beginning but they never foresaw that people might actually have to get a new PS3 after one breaks. Either that or they just didn't care or thought people don't really care about their saves.

OMG, I didn't want that to happen to me. Those saved files on my PS3 are my collections, not just that, I waste all my time, energy and effort at the same time. It's my greatest achievements. Goodluck with that, Mass

This makes me appreciate my PS3 quite a bit right now. It's been through quite a bit as well and I'm glad it hasn't bitten the dust yet.

I remember when my brother pulled his Controller, he didn't know it was connected so the PS3 just fell hard on the wooden floor board. WOODEN-

He panicked for 45 minutes trying to pry it open cause he heard something rattle when he shook it. He was half way from literally ripping the thing open- When I realized that he left a disc in there, we just looked at each other and laughed XDD So we plugged it in and hope it still worked... And it did. XDD

you have to fix that soon Mass, we have to play online when I buy my new ps3

I've used it before and didn't have any problems, thankfully. I might just ditch those files, though. They're old and I propably won't be playing those games again any time soon. I think the only ones I have that are protected are Killzone 2, Street Fighter 4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

No no, fixing is out of the question. I'm going to go and buy a new one tomorrow. I only need it "fixed" for long enough to get my saves out of it.

RIP to masses PS3 lol. It happened to my first PS3 in 2010. It also survived two YLODs. The one ive had now is almost two years old and the fan noise seems to be getting louder everyday. Knowing my luck it will probably breakdown the day before RE6 comes out.

Guess I'll soon find out, my friend is bringing me a new PS3 today.

EDIT: Turns out the slim makes no sound, at all.

Yeah, my brother's Slim is as silent as his farts.

I don't think it will ever get the YLOD, even though he's played it for 6 months now and all night too.
