RPG Maker games

I have recently been playing a lot of games made with RPG Maker and a lot of them have been very good. Especially the horror titles. I thought I'd share some of the best with you guys. Feel free to link to your favorites if they aren't mentioned here All of these games are free so download links are provided.



Let's start off with...


I used a lot of time trying to find the original 1996 game but with no luck. Next, I set to search for the first remake called Corpse Party: Blood Covered made for Windows back in 2008. All I could find was untranslated versions and I even downloaded one but couldn't figure out how to make it work. After that I pretty much gave up, got a PSP emulator and started playing the second remake, Corpse Party: Blood Covered Repeated Fear, on that. Thus far it has been an amazing game and I've even made a Let's Play of it, which can be found [here]

Not too long ago, DXP was kind enough to link me to an updated version of the original. I've played it a bit and it's more different to the remake than I thought.

It feels like a mix of Clock Tower and Sweet Home and I happen to like both of those games. Horribly gruesome game. I really hope they release a translated version of the sequel, Book of Shadows. There's also a manga series based on the games.

Next up we have Ao Oni. It's a really weird horror/suspense title about a group of teenagers going to a house inhabited by a monster. Lot's of puzzles and jump scares in this one.

Here's yet another horror title, called Yume Nikki.

I actually didn't even know about this game's existence before Meth mentioned it in the REF chatroom. I don't know much about this one as I haven't played it yet but it sure seemed interesting, being based on dreams.

On top of those, I found a site that collects a whole bunch of RE related games made with RPG Maker.

The site is really cluttered and hard to navigate so I'll just link straight to the game pages. The games are located on the top of the site so just click on them to see more info. Download links are on the left.

[Download Page 1] The games here are mostly demos and trials but some of them (like RE 2D) are really good.

That's it for horror games. I still have two "regular" RPGs so I'll go through those quickly.


Aufie's Quest is a humoristic RPG made by a Let's Player named Adkit2 who has since left the LP community. The game also has a sequel, Aufie's Quest 2: Bob's Quest but I couldn't find any working links for that.

Last but not least is Pleasure Island RPG based on the crazy and fucked up animations by Sexual Lobster, namely the Manwhore series.

I was after looking this up and downloading the trail for XV ace its pretty cool but right now I have next to no idea how to use it I was on for like an hour yesterday and learned some things but im far off from knowing it aha

Corpse Party sounds really cool.

Corpse Party is a must if your a survival/psychological horror fan. But be warned if you play the psp version you won't sleep well for a while its that bad (in a mind screwing way) I'm glad RE 2D was mentioned its just a shame that it never got an ending =/

Also on that site is a fan made rpg maker version of RE1, which isn't so bad but once again it never got finished. Think I will give Ao Oni a shot when I have time to.

Really? I like his LPs. Only ones I don't like from him are puzzle games because he is HORRIBLE at those.

You really should try CP at some point, it's an amazing game. I still need to finish the remake.

It's still being worked on and that link is to the english version of the demo even if it says ingles version in the text.

I must correct one thing I said in my previous post. I like his commentary but it irritates me that he is extremely bad at most games he plays, usually not making it through the first level without a walkthrough.
