The Resident Evil games franchise is without question one if not the best horror game franchise there is having said that there are unexplained sniglets of the universe within the franchise.
Why are the cerberus or zombie dogs all dobbermans as if somehow that's the only large dog breed that exists when clearly it is not German Sheppards, Ptbulls to name a few come to mind. The same goes for crows as if that's the only bird that can flock in numbers enough to peck people to death, didn't the authors of the game ever watched Hitchcock The Birds?

Poodles would have ended up eaten probably by larger breeds of zombie dogs and other T-virus infected predators. i also find it interesting that the crocs in the game are really no larger than a Nile Croc. Shouldn't they be the size of T-rexes or larger?

First of all, umbrella probably only prepared the BOW cerberus, experimenting on dobbermans. Remember, Cerberus arent randomly infected dogs, they are genetically manipulated BOWs. And did you play Resident evil 5?the giant crocodile at the execution ground wasnt big enough for you?that thing was huge! And crows are menacing birds, their black, theyre eerie, theyre mainly just for appearances sake. I mean, a blue jay perched in the graveyard of the mansion wouldve been a little less creepy, dont you think?

Technically you're wrong about the dogs. I'm not sure if RE2/RE3 mentions it but I know in Outbreak they talked about the dogs from RPD being infected.

Im pretty sure ive read files regarding the experimentation and development of the BOW cerberus, im not sure if i found it in a lab in REmake. Ill have to double check that. Thanks!
EDIT
Just found this on the RE wiki:
The Cerberus (development code: "MA-39") was a B.O.W. series developed in Umbrella labs, such as the Arklay Laboratory, from a doberman pinscher infected with the Tyrant virus. They should not be confused with "zombie dogs", which encompasses all dog breeds infected with the t-Virus in the secondary form.

Yes, the RE1 Zombie Dogs were experiment. RE2/RE3/RECV ones were accidental infections.

RE5 featured a number of hound dogs and, grey hounds, and german shepherds as enemies.
I think it even had a hyena in there too!
I forgot about that.
One thing I've noticed is that the crows have been greatly diminshed as threats. They started out as imporant plotpoints in the first game was stayed enemies throughout (though I think bats took their place in CVX). In RE4, they became easy sources of jewels and money, and in RE5, they were nothing more than target practice.

That's because they weren't infected in RE4 and 5.
Hopefully infected crows make a return in RE6 with Leon's section of the game.

Infected magpies would be much more menacing.
Those freaking birds even heckle the shit out of people IRL.

Good point, they specifically chose the dobbermans.
