| While it was previously fighting for the highest selling spot in the RE franchise with RE4, Resident Evil 5 has now officially become Capcom's highest selling game. I can't exactly say I would've seen this coming but since it is one of my favorite titles in the series I'm happy for it. Now, I do want to point out that RE4 is still technically highest selling with its alterante editions. In any case, RE5 is now the highest selling with its initial release edition. http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/31/resident-evil-5-passes-street-fighter-2-as-capcoms-biggest-seller/ |

| I can understand why. The rich diversity of weapons and the new degrees of interaction, in both movement and combat, along with the inventive situations Chris and Sheva are thrust into, make Resident Evil 5 a highly admirable game. I for one am proud to own it. |

| RE 5 is the best game I've ever played and it's the best among the series at least 4 me. I feel happy that it became the top seller of the series, cs it deserves that spot. No matter what RE 4 fans will say RE 5 will always be the best ! ! ! |

| I would have thought RE2 would be. Personally i enjoy the classic ones since that's how it was meant to be imo. REmake on gamecube is my favorite though. It's got everything that made RE the best survival horror series of all time in it. The graphics in that game are still amazing. It didn't do well because it was only on the gamecube. It's on the wii now but still... it's a nintendo console and it's years late. I thought RE5 was okay for an action game but i wouldn't call it survival horror by any means. |

| It was for a while, that is; Resident Evil 2 being the best selling game in the series on a single release. But again, this kind of goes back to my Trilogy Theory, where the first three games were sort of the end of the era including the spin-offs. Then 4, 5, and 6 are the new era, the second doing the best in sales because the first really set the stage for the next game to lift off. |

| I hope you're right, because that would mean RE7 would be a new era and they will change it lol. Sorry i'm jut not a big fan of the current RE trend. |

| I'm not surprised. RE5 was the first RE to be multi-platform from the start. Also, Street Fighter II is Capcom's highest selling game if you count the different versions.
Street Fighter II + Street Fighter II Turbo + Super Street Fighter II + Street Fighter II' Plus = 14,050,000 sales |

Street Fighter II + Street Fighter II Turbo + Super Street Fighter II + Street Fighter II' Plus = 14,050,000 sales Yes but this is about a single release. I even mention it in the OP. - PWNERX wrote:

That's why I occasionally enjoy them. Haven't subbed him, though, not that interested. |

| I see RE5 as the 2 of the new era. Plus look at those graphics and lighting. 5 has the most scenery porn in the series with REmake not too far behind. |

Im not. Despite personal issues with certain things, I acknowledge that RE5 wS a brilliant game overall. On the whole I think RE5 feels good. Im of course speaking of the FULL product, including all of extras DLC or not, jn addition to the nice story and characters. |

Of course it would sell well. Since 5 is 4 with some fixes, additions, and more familiar characters it was gonna trump many of the previous games. Not to mention the graphics in some areas. |

| Re4 was much better than 5 in terms of main storyline gameplay.
The best thing about re5 was towards the end with wesker but the earlier parts of the game are tedious and boring. Cant deny the sheer amount of reply value and extra content is spectacular for RE5 though but that still does not mask the borderline mediocre main story.
I still much more enjoyed re4. Re6 I found more enjoyable than 5 BUT not by much. Revelations and RE5 I found to be a tie in terms of entertainment. |

| @PAULSAMSON: Well ORC was a teaser for RE 6, new controls were introduced in it, plus fact that you could choose how to end the game and possibility of killing Leon made it even more popular. I didnt like it before, but more i replay it, the better it gets. Overall its not that bad game.
RE 5 introduced a lot of new generation gamers to RE, that's why it sold that well, plus the replay value. . . Years have gone, but I still have it on PC. It's a great game, with much better controls then RE4, plus incredible graphics and story. Definitely deserves each cent that it made. |

Do you agree that the earlier parts of the game set in the shanty towns was tedious though? Well RE 5 is my favorite game so for me there's nothing tedious in it. The earlier parts had their own tension, I dont understand why you dont like them, i mean i could get the fact that you dont like it, cs it's more illuminated then RE4, but both games have very much alike beginnings, if you remember there's a lot of running around in the beginning of RE4 as well. |

Its just that the earlier parts of the game seemed more like a video game based on black hawk down than a resident evil game. It was all set in sunny daylight which I think ruined it a bit as well. |
