I couldn't stop laughing at that cutscene. Sorry. It was so corny but apparently a lot of people cried during that cutscene according to YouTube comments.

I did find the tone a little emotional, kind of started to feel the sad mood, but then when I thought he was going to let out a herioic yell (much like snake did with meryl) he let's out THIS! That sent me into a fit of laughter, sorry lol. The game was still amazing though

Haha, I'm sorry, I'm an idiot. I totally over looked that part. All I saw was "This guy needs to do this:" * insert video here*. lol

I thought it was sad too. I didn't cry. But, I didn't laugh either.

The reason I didn't like that cutscene was because there was very little character development, and when Dante started crying over someone he only knew for like 40 seconds of the game, it just didn't seem convincing. A little melodramatic for my taste.

The only really scene that had passion, good voice acting and a really sad outcome was sniper wolfs death within the original Metal Gear Solid. To this day it still makes me close to tearing up. The cutscene gets you really feeling sorry and understanding about wolfs past and poor Otocon seeing the woman he loved dying. The sad OST and wolfs crying in the distant background doesn't help either. Oh man that was some powerful cinematics even to this day :')

I never played Metal Gear Solid, I started Snake Eater and couldn't finish it, but just at least tell me that Otocon knew the woman he loved for over 40 seconds. I mean Dante was in love with a puppet that looked like his mom. That's just creepy. There's something with Japanese people and their mothers. I see it in anime all the time…

Well during the game you get to realise that he has a passion for sniper wolf and as he tells you she was the only one that was nice to him. He used to take care of the wolves for her and such. It was kind of like a crush on her but he did know her for a long time and the way the story is told I'm guessing he knew her before the game as well becasue metal gear rex wasn't just built over night. In case you haven't seen the cutscene here it is for you. Tell me you don't get caught up in the emotion.

Jesus Christ, that was sick. I'm surprised what they could pull off with such limited technology. I'm just convinced that DMC had a lack of storytelling and voice talents.

Metal Gear was actually one of the only games back then (and most now) that had perfect character development, storyline, plot twisting and voice acting. That is why the series is so renowned, Kojima is a very talented man and for the MGS series I'm very grateful. You need to pick up the game when you get the chance, you will enjoy every second of it. I did see that DMC didn't have the best storyline but there was something that made it interesting, I don't know what it was but something was drawing me in. Maybe the story and game just suited my personal taste. I't could possible be due to the fact was like a playable anime, the story was much like an anime and the characters and ability's where also.

I guess that I didn't like MGS3 was because they started giving me history lessons. DMC is basically pure gameplay, little to no story. So I guess these are two ends of the extreme for me. I have been thinking about picking up the HD collection of Metal Gear, the one that comes with the first game, the second, and Peace Walker. But MGS3… I just couldn't stand it.

I would not say that story telling element is bad in DMC games though their stories is mostly driven by gameplay. Like DMC 3 dante was very cocky because of his gameplay abilities that can literally dance with demons and can prove no damage missions a possibility even in hardest of modes(dante must die). I think the story is inspired from animes that involve action with swords and ability of characters to use weapons. If you like action oriented animes(particularly with sword), you would not find the story element jus as a filler but a motivation to play the game. DMC 3 really inspired me to play the game on the hardest modes because story and character profile of dante and vergil. On the contrary, i can't say the same about 2D fighting games where story element is rather insufficient to explore more in the game except for few characters like ryu and evil ryu. I was amazed that even a character like evil ryu existed until i completed the game (street fighter alpha 3) and was totally impressed with his move set. Compared to games like street fighter that are more concentrated on gameplay, I think DMC is a bit more motivational in playing through missions with character's move set.
