Agent 007(That's me!) Has Arrived Empty
PostSubject: Agent 007(That's me!) Has Arrived   Agent 007(That's me!) Has Arrived EmptyMon Feb 27, 2012 12:52 am

Ok, well recently a user has joined REF and is a 007 fan, so why not make a topic in Off-Topic to discuss this awesome series that I know most on here aren't even that familiar with.

Now I'm pretty sure a 007 thread exists but I don't know where it went.

Now, first off, the Best Bond is....really a tie between two guys, Sean Connery & Pierce Brosnan. Both guys looked the part, played it with the right amount of sauve and charm. The two coolest by far.

Now guys like Lazenby, Dalton and Moore as well as the most recent Craig aren't bad by any means. Lazenby had one movie, and he wasn't that great anyway. Dalton was cool, but only two movies, but I thought he was cool. Moore is a lot of fun, but I honestly felt like he didn't look the part as much as others...like Connery & Brosnan. Moore has the most movies though, and some really great ones at that.

Now onto the reason for really making this thread, Daniel Craig. He doesn't look like James Bond. Period.

Now I do actually consider Casino Royale to be one of my personal favs, because it's just that good, but honestly, if Craig didn't have such a badass movie to his name, I wouldn't like him at all. Quantum Of Solace wasn't really so great though....

What happened to SPECTRE? Instead we got that Green thing or whatever.

Brosnan was my favorite Bond. Still cant believe that Daniel Craig is bond. He looks nothing like Bond. Altough Casino Royale is my second favorite bond movie lol.

I do too, he's my favorite Bond this far. Though I really need to go back and watch some of the older Bond movies again to say that.

All this talk of Goldeneye makes me want to dust off my Nintendo 64.

PostSubject: Re: Agent 007(That's me!) Has Arrived   Agent 007(That's me!) Has Arrived EmptyMon Feb 27, 2012 2:20 pm

You mofos started a 007 thread without me!!how dare you!!Well first of all I must state, that Sean Connery is a fave and to me and as well as others, he is definantly Bond. But in his later films he was really let down by the scripts, and he himself stated that he was bored of the role and only returned to DAF because he was offered 1 million dollars (a ridiculous amount of money for an actor in 1971). Did you guys watch YOLT and DAF?Connery was bored and his performance was sub par. Moving on to Lazenby, he isnt a particularly good actor and he was relativley unknown at the time, but the script for OHMSS was terrific. Really faithful to the book, and Bond and Tracys relationship was fantastically written.

Its a shame they didnt continue with him, since he couldve perhaps grown into the role and the writers were definantly going in the right direction. But since money is what makes this world go round, the audience demanded Connery and we got that chubby, old bored man in DAF (Connery really aged from YOLT to DAF). Moores outings were just ridiculous. I watched them, but everytime I saw less and less of Flemings great character, and more of a self parody. Then came blessed Timothy Dalton, which was like a breath of fresh air. The living daylights wrote Bond as he is in the books, a tired old veteran, who will bend the rules of his profession if he doesnt see them fit, a cold calculated killer and a lover of women (not that Moore was lacking in that department, but it was just ridiculous). Bond and Karas relationship in TLD was excellent, but he was let down by a somewhat underwhelming script.

But what followed was horrendous. LTK really screwed up, writing an episode of Miami Vice rather than a 007 film. Still, Dalton did a fantastic job, and seeing as Goldeneye was originally writen for him, I always wonder what couldve been. But the audience tired of this edgy Bond, they wanted the superficial cardboard character back with the one liners. They got Brosnan, or as my fellow 007 fans on X messageboard call him, Brozzer. Brozzer tried his best, he was definantly a good looking man and his movies were good fun, but 007 was becoming just another action movie. The Bondian feel began to go away. And Brozzers ridiculous pain face, his feigning emotions in TWINE and the infamous Brozzer run were just to much. And DAD was the cherry on top of the cheesy, sleazy cake. The first half of the movie was great, but the second half was just godamn stupid. My childhood hero (yes I grew up with Brosnan) had become object of ridicule in the eyes of other people.

And the character from the books is just so great. It wasnt fair. So many Bond puritans longed the ages of Dr.No, FRWL, TLD, but it was gone. Then, a funny looking fellow called Craig was hired. Everyone was skeptical at first, I mean, who can really follow up Pierce Brosnan in the looks department! But along with a fantastic script, the third most loyal beside FRWL and OHMSS, CR blew the world away. And Craig brought my literary hero to the big screen in all his raw splendor. Class, sophistication, danger, women, the deception and death that the spy genre was so faous for, the one 007 created. It returned. So, for giving fans a true 007, for going back to his roots, for playing the first bearable Bond sicne Dalton, Ill always respect and admire Mr. Craig.

PS:Spike991, you are not 007. I am 007.

Gimme a tux and I'm Bond. Give you a tux and your a toddler in a tuxedo. Wink

@Barber, damn straight. Wasn't Casino Royale just too much fun. I mean Le Chiffre(which actually means numbers in french, boneheads)was really cool. I'm quite the card player(pokaface) myself, so that whole scene where they were playing Texas Hold 'Em was really fun to watch. "That last hand, it nearly killed me"...

And Craig is fun to watch sometimes, he plays the role so effin well that you can't help but like him anyway, especially with CR under his belt. But he looks nothing like Bond, he doesn't look sauve or sophisticated. I honestly just don't find that believable. Or honestly preferable. I would think Tall, Dark and Handsome would be Bond's description. I mean all this in a completely heterosexual way of course.

Now Connery was just so cool, no matter what. I don't care if he was lazy or whatever in his final films...hell he was still awesome in Never Say Never Again, the unnofficial remake of Thunderball.

Brosnan was the perfect Modern Bond, versus Connery's retro Bond. Which is another good reason that I'm satisfied with calling it a draw between those two, two different eras.

Anybody played Nightfire? That and Everything Or Nothing are the two best Bond games of all time. Of course next to the original, GoldenEye!

I believe your right, to an extent. Craig doesnt fit the James Bond physical profile, but then again not much do. Ian Fleming even quoted Connery as looking like an overgrown stuntman, wishing for someone else to play 007. Bond has a 3 inch vertical scar on his right cheek, and has greyish blue eyes. Does this fit Connerys description?nope. And Flemings Bond didnt get all the girls he wanted. Sometimes it just didnt happen. As Fleming described him, hes not an extraordinary man, hes an ordinary man to which extraordinary things happen. I can overlook Craigs blonde hair because even in his 178cm, blonde hair and skinny neck, he is more Bond than Brozzer ever was.

And which part about DC do you not find suave?conversation with Vesper on the train, the fact he knows fine wine and drink, mathematical probablities and the way he dresses (except perhaps during african rundown) all show him of a man of fine living, a sophisticated man. The difference between the other films is that, Craigs Bond bleeds and faces the situations that happen to him in a realistic way. Like a spy operative would. Bond was a bit of a snob, but in the short story quantum of solace, he doesnt consider himself one and finds them utterly annoying. Craig plays this perfectly. Like Fleming meant.

PS:Post a pic and I MIGHT believe you. Until then, the names Bond. James Bond.

I was pretty much referring to his physical appearance when I said Not sauve and Not sophisticated looking.

I think that I've mentioned that I'm not much into reading...meh...so I don't really care what the visuals were for Bond back in Flemings books, I'm totally a fan of the movies and games only. That ain't so bad right?

I think that Connery and Brosnan both look totally different from one another, but equally look like Bond to me. I kinda hate that.

Oh, another question, do you prefer the Walther PP7 or the Walther P99?

And I just mean a believable suave. It's just some overconfident dude, not James Bond. I really dislike having to play as his Bond in the games too, because when Bond was Connery or Brosnan, he was the coolest, but when it's Craig's Bond, I'm really rooting for the villian more, cuz he's cooler in comparision. Like Le Chiffre for instance.

Ernst Stavro Blofeld, especially from YOLT is the best villian ever. That's Dr. Evil for all you ignorant people who don't know Blofeld.

Oh, and I'll keep my beak mask on, thank ya very much.

Well, I cant really mess with what you think Bond should look like. The character ever since his creation, had a look, but that changed when Connery took the role in 1962s DrNo. The actor who looked physically most like James Bond was Timothy Dalton, which looks a lot different than Sean Connery IMO. And it seems Bonds persona for you is that crazy invisible car drivin dude Brozzer was, or Connery in his moon buggy chase in DAF, who couldnt say anything wrong, or would bang a girl just by asking the time, but I assure you James Bond is different from that. If you wanna see what Bond is really like, check out From Russia with Love. That is Connerys best and he IS James Bond in that one. Then they pretty much became escapist fantasy I find hard to take seriously as James Bond, but a good time nonetheless.

Similar to what happens to you with Craig perhaps?Anyway i agree with Blofeld being an awesome villain, (my second fave is Alec Trevelyan, I love Goldeneye)and, URGHH!!!AS A BOND FAN I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE REGARD THE ACTOR INTERPRETATIONS OF BOND AS DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, THEYRE THE SAME CHARACTERS BUT WITH DIFFERENT FACES!!BOND IS NOT A CYPHER, HE IS A CHARACTER WITH A BACKSTORY!!!lol sorry, I had to get that nerd tourettes outburst outta me it was driving me crazy. And for me, any walthers good, I just really care about the movie being good. And leChiffre was a good villain but WHO THE FUCK ROOTS FOR LECHIFFRE?thats why im excited about Skyfall, the new Bond villains will be played by Javier Bardem and Ralph fiennes (theres rumors hes playing Blofeld!)and the movie is gonna be a landmark, on movie Bonds 50th anniversary.

I take what Connery looked like as Bond as what he should look like. To varying degrees. Just seeing pictuers of the different Bonds, they typically seem to have very distinct features. I don't really see that with Craig. While guys like Moore, Lazenby and Connery all had like you know, distinct chins and facial features..IDK what I'm saying. Long story short, Craig plays it well but doesn't look the part.

It's definately different. But I don't hate the dude, this isn't a DC Douglas kind of thing.

I love Javier Bardem...No Country For Old Men anyone?

And I would love to see Blofeld again, that would be so epic. I really only liked him from YOLT, Pleasance, and the other guy that played him in FRWL and Thunderball.

Weeping blood comes merely from a derangement of the tear duct my dear general, nothing sinister. How could you not love Le Chiffre. And his testicular torture....

I'm anxious for Fiennes though. Remember him in Red Dragon, the Manhunter remake?

And trust me I'd make a better Bond than Craig. If I was a bit older...

And I have this to confirm my 00 Status, how bout you?

Thats a concept I also found stupid about the old films. Everybody knew who james bond was!!Agents belonging to the 00 branch do not flaunt it. 80% of their profession is to not reveal theyre identity. Thats how I know your not an operative.

He was like a celebrity. Actually I remember in From Russia With Love, the bate for him was that chick that loved him, at the beginning.

The orange tip. It's a new gadget I got from Q Branch. I won't tell you what it does though.

And I only said I was James Bond, but I didn't reveal anything else.

Best Bond film?

That would have to be from russia with love. It has everything, the enigma, the tension, , the excitement, the girls, the guns, the exotic locations, the brilliant henchmen. It stayed very faithful to the book and it showed onscreen. Casino royales definantly up there. My guilty pleasures are the living daylights, tthe world is not enough and goldfinger. You?

Wait why are those "Guilty Pleasures"? I mean I understand the Dalton one, but Goldfinger was awesome, you don't gotta feel guilty about that one.

IDK..I love the Connery movies most I think. Especially when it's a Shirley Bassey Song.

I might choose Goldfinger as my fav, or Goldfinger, I also really liked Casino Royale.

Favourite theme song?

I accidentally wrote goldfinger and meant to write goldeneye, then wrote goldeneye again FAIL lol. Anyway, shirley bassey takes it home for me in goldfinger, as does tom jones with thunderball. More modernwise, chris cornell expressed the feeling and general sentiment of the casino royale movie and i listened to it nonstop for a good 3 years. garbage, in Brozzers TWINE also did a fantastic job. And a really overlooked theme song, Gladys Knights license to kill. And sir rogs second film, TMWTGG was a great song too. Idunno, I just realized that I really love A TON of Bond title song, I couldnt really decide. Your favorite pre-title sequence?

Yeah, I was about to say, WTF is wrong with you.

I love GoldenEye though. Brosnan and Sean Bean. That was a tough one, cuz I thought Trevelyan was really cool. One of my fav villians. Up there with Le Chiffre and Blofeld.

BTW Christopher Walken is a Bond Villian. He's just a fun guy, and nice that he has that to his credit.

Oh, well I liked all of Brosnan's theme songs too. Sheryl Crow for TND, Garbage, ummm.....Tina Turner for GoldenEye right?, and even Madonna.

Nobody Does It Better might be my favourite theme song though. Gotta love that Carly Simon. You're So Vain.

Maybe the Goldfinger title sequence. Those Golden woman. Casino was cool too. I liked the Diamonds pre-title as well.

A lot of them are pretty cheesy and cheap looking, especially the earlier ones.

Fav Bond Girl?

Yeah, I know Christopher Walken is a Bond villain, View to a kill right?(sir rog looked like batshit in that one). And DAD, Madonna?REALLY?And the DAF pre-title sequence is Bond killing blofeld in mud, really expected you to like a spectacular one, like from Brozzers era (TWINE, anyone?)

My favorite Bond girl...I want to say Tracy Bond, but I just loved Vesper Lynd so much that Im gonna have to go with her. what about you?

Yup, VTAK. And Moore did look horrible...it's actually really weird. I can't stand to look at him too much.

Oh....duh. I was thinking you meant title sequence. My favourite Pre title is...Goldfinger. Hearing the Bassey music playing right after Connery kills that dude in the tub, "Shocking".

Oh, and just want to point out the awesome chase seen at the beginning of Casino. Parkour is effin awesome.

And easily my fav goes to Xenia Onattop. Famke Janssen. She did always like a good squeeze. She's pretty sexy and had an awesome character with the MO she had. Squeezing them with her thighs to death. That and Pussy Galore are what Bond Girls are all about. Surprised

Oh wow I haven't watched a James Bond movie in ages! My father owns all of them I do believe. Thanks to this I think I'll be cracking one open and watching it with him this weekend. Smile

Wasn't Heidi Klum in one of them?

Oh that's it, we have that game too... Somewhere. I rather enjoyed the part with the car where I'm pretty sure you're chasing after a limo. I kinda sucked my first 3 or so tries but I eventually got it.

Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan is my favorite James Bond. The two of them we're almost perfect to be the James Bond. Although Daniel Craig is good too. Of all the James Bond Movies that I watched, Even the Classic ones, The 007 Casino Royale is my favorite of all. I just don't like the actor, Daniel Craig. For me, I don't find him attractive. I love Sean Connery Still, and Pierce Brosnan is my kind of Guy.
