RE is more survival than horror.

But why the hell do you guys think RE4 is scary?? Explain it to me.

Is it wrong for me to think so? I know your stand on how it's not scary but it doesn't change the fact that I find it somewhat so.

Of course it isn't wrong for you to think so, but I just can't imagine it. What is scary about it? I thought Gears of War was scarier. God damn tickers in the dark hallway.

I don't care what anyone says, that hedge maze is scary. Even now when I play it it still makes me feel scared and worried for Leon.

True. Although as relentless he is, so is Slenderman. Not in the violent "I'm gonna chop you to pieces with this massive chainsaw and you can do nothing about it" way but in a creepy way that messes up your mind.

The maze wasn't scary and it didn't even feel like a maze. I was only scared of it at first because people told me the part was totally scary After I went through the part I was like wth they lied to me.

@Thom: I didn't find the whole game scary, just some parts. Most of the parts Ravior and Monster listed don't apply with me but I did find some parts of the game scary. Like how the enemies were suddenly way more intelligent than I had come to know in RE. That was just one thing, though, but I just get immersed in games so much that I actually get scared for my life when I encounter something like the regenerator. They just look so disfigured and horrible.

the really scary moment I felt it was with nemesis.

One chilling moment I forgot to mention were the pictures in the credits of RE4.

I think saying RE4 is scary is the same as saying RE4 is scary.

I don't think it's terrifying, but there are parts that make my heart race every time I play it. (the hedge maze.)

Silent Hill isn't all that scary when you don't use your imagination. SH2 is way scarier when you think of all the terrible things that are either far away from you or close to you with the sounds that they make in the music. You never see them, because nothing is scarier. (trope)

Agree but I don't think scary is even the right word for it.

Tense, eery and a little bit creepy at times

The regenrators are way overrated as well. They are frustrating enemies to kill at times but I don't think there is a single encounter in RE4 (from memory) where you can't just avoid them and move on with the game.

You never had this option with most enemies in earlier games. It took tactics to get around enemies without losing any health. This is where the game lost a lot of it's surival element.

RE4 and RE5 have so many encounters where it's just like OMGZ I GOTZ TO KILLZ THIZ ENEMIEZ OR I'M FUCKEDZ

There are some part where the regens of iron maidens can't be avoided. Besides, manouvering through enemies in the earlier games was easy as hell. Sure there were enemies you couldn't avoid but getting through without being hit is easy.

Regenerators are very easy to kill. Just knife their legs and while they're on the ground keep knifing. They will never get up. 0 bullets and no damage.

I find RE scary. But maybe it's just cuz I'm a girl.... Damn stereotypes...

And there have also been a lot of creepy scenes and areas. That first zombie cutscene in RE1 used to freak me the hell out as a kid. REmake is also a pretty creepy game altogether. The new graphics and lighting just brought more eerieness to the game.

Amnesia was awesome, when I got to the prison I started to get creepied out though.

I really have to try this Amnesia game. Haven't actually been "scared" to play a game before. Even Silent Hill.

It's a very cool game dude, there are some parts in Amnesia where it gets really creepy and scary.

thats about it i guess still brilliant games though
