Subject: Can your own music be played while playing RE5? Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:26 am
I own the deluxe edition of the game for PS3, and a while ago, I tried to play some of the music that I had put into a playlist on the system, but the game didn't allow it. Was this just because I was at a part where that couldn't be done, or does RE5 not allow you to play your own music during gameplay?

I don't think the PS3 allows background music. I may be wrong.

The 360 version does, but you can listen to your own music during gameplay in every 360 game. It's one of the best features of the 360.

To be honest, I can't stand playing music while playing a game. I won't play with people who do it.

You can on Dead Space 2, and I would imagine several other games as well (I don't have too many).

I'm with Nite here, I never use my own music while I'm playing games, the in-game soundtracks are fine for me.

I just think the in-game sounds are too important to cover up.

I try to keep the music to a reasonable level so that non-musical sound effects aren't canceled out, but I've found out that if done right, adding your music can give the game a whole new dimension.

I just don't like it. I play single-player games most of the time and I think that music in a game is very important. If I use my own music, it kinda ruins the atmosphere of the game for me.

I understand that some people like it. I don't think it's dumb to do or anything. And it also depends on the game and situation. Having it as an option is always nice for everyone.

RE5 doesn't support custom soundtracks.

I don't like playing games from an external player, but if it's coming from the TV and it fits, I'm good.
It's especially awesome to have other RE music coming from your TV while playing mercs. Try it sometime, it's awesome. Krauser's Darkside fits pretty well.
Actually, listening to the Ganado music in mercs works pretty good too in RE5. It's just cool to hear.

I usually rock out to some Tiny Tim while playing God of War.

I was listening to Initial R while playing as Rebecca. It's so fitting.

Now children, imagine this while playing GTA IV. Also, it's pretty dang awesome to play Wesker's Theme from RE4 while playing as him in RE5 Mercenaries.

I know right! Very fitting. Also, the two versions of Live Evil work well too, especially the "Beginnings" version.

Which Mercenaries do you prefer, Ravior? For me it's gotta be RE4's. It has better music and is more rewarding.

RE4 by far. Even though it pales in comparison when it comes to content, RE4's mercs is just more fun to play. Each level feels balanced and well made (unlike RE5, where some of the stages are a little sloppy and one of them has reapers). Plus the Genados aren't nearly as obnoxious as the Majini's, which I can't stand. Majini's are always grabbing me and getting in the way of potential combos, while the Genados just attack you and that's the end of it. Majini's are more annoying than dangerous, while the Genados are just dangerous, and are more fair in comparison.
Plus, Super Salvador (or Mr. Salvador) is by far one of the scariest enemies ever in a video game. But instead of being scary for the wrong reasons (reapers), he's scary for all the right ones.
Yeah, I would take RE4's any day. The gameplay and enemies are just better.

Reapers are just unfair. Super Salvador is fair. Sure, his only attack is a one hit kill and he can moonjump, but he falls rather easily. Reapers are just the same. Minus the falling easily part.

Yeah. Super Salvador is balanced by his small health. Reapers actually have regular health too, but their weak spot is so inconsistent. Some times I shoot it's glowy stomach dead on with powerful magnums, but it doesn't affect him, eventually leading to my 50 kill combo to be deleted among a sea of lost Mines scores.

They're easy enough to kill, if you have a/n infinite/rocket launcher, machine gun, or any form of explosive. If you don't you're f**ked. Not even the sheer amazingness of Grenade Launching will fell them.

I've killed Reapers in as few as six shots from a handgun.

Shot placement is key. Blasting away like Rambo will get you killed.
