| Well there isn't much to discuss. We like Degeneration. It was good. End of discussion, in with a new one! |

| I also don't mind it, as long as the topic discussion has been ended or the question has been answered. |

| I just felt like mentioning it as we suddenly started a completely new discussion involving OST Still, no other thread has been able to compare to the amount of subject changes as EWW.

| You... kinda lost me there.
Did you check the thread? It's hilarious. Even if you might die by getting a botfly lava in your brain, it's worth it. |

I couldn't find it using the search either. Weird. Go back to the post on previous page where I mentioned it. The word is the link. |

| Degeneration was a great film. I wouldn't have minded seeing one or two more creatures, but for Capcom's first attempt, it was pretty good.
On the topic of the franchise' ruination, all of the older RE games are classic, but that style of gameplay had run its course, at least in its pure form. The formula set by the first game was awesome, but the only way that it could have been expanded was just by making the games even longer, the puzzles even more complex, and having even more backtracking. Past a certain point, I think it gets a bit ridiculous. I think CV was the farthest that style of gameplay could be taken before it gets too much. Also, the old style had a number of distinct drawbacks. For one thing, simple things like turning around were unnecessarily laborious, and the rapid changes in camera angle that occurred from going from one scene to the next could be incredibly disorienting and potentially disastrous in the middle of a fight. Dodging was helpful in RE3, but very arbitrary. The prerendered backgrounds looked great, but a number of them were just uneccessarly and the delays in going from one scene to the next could be almost maddening (I'm thinking of when you're running through the train at the end of RE2, before you fight Mr. X). CV fixed some of these problems, but not all of them. The third-person style made boss battles simplistic and somewhat anti-climactic at times. This might have been tolerated by older gamers, but you can bet that the latest generation would not have stood for them; RE had to evolve if it wanted to survive. RE4 and 5 fixed alot of these problems and allowed for players to have a great deal more control over the chracters, opening up to things like the multiplayer features that would not have been nearly as good in third-person. I think that RE5 took the FPS style too far and removed some key RE trademarks, like backtracking to previous locations. As to the "horror" element, there were some scenes in the last two games that were quite chilling. There's no reason that the old and new style can't be combined. |

| I also miss the puzzles very much. That and the save system (why the hell did they remove the save rooms and the ink ribbon save system?!) are my biggest complaints from the new RE style. The save system is also the reason why the new RE games aren't survival anymore. If I die, I have to do 10 seconds over. In the others (especially REmake) you have to conserve the ink ribbons, which makes you wanna survival because the death penalty is big. |

RE4 did have typewriters, but no ink ribbons. My guess would be that they didn't want anything to slow down the action or ruin whatever impression of "realism" that they wanted. Also, the ink ribbons were kind of a joke in RE2 since it would have been impossible to run out of them unless a player was inordinately sloppy. |

| Typewriters without ink ribbons is extremely useless. They just threw them in to make it look like the old save system. RE4 also had checkpoints at every door. STUPID!!! |
