| Explain to me how people would not get it. I've never played Silent Hill and I got that movie and it is at least fairly close to the games. I've never read Lord of the Rings but I get those movies perfectly. Games have stories. If you make the movie stick to that same story, people will get it because it is just like any other story...I'm just not understanding why you think people can get the story of a book or something...but not one from a videogame. |

| Nite, maybe it all comes down to expectations. What I mean is, we as gamers are expecting to go into a movie based on a game we love and get the same satisfaction from the movie as we do the games. Being fans of the games, maybe we set the bar too high for any Hollywood adaptation to satisfy us. I'm using Resident Evil as the example here... We all know the games inside and out and are familiar with the story, characters, etc... Hollywood is not going to put a "pure" video game story up as a movie. They spend millions to make these films and want them to reach as large an audience as possible so to cater to such an overall small niche of consumer wouldn't make sense, financially. I do believe though that it is our expectations as fans of the games that lead us to the general negative feelings of the movie adaptations. This has me wondering if the movies are more enjoyable to people who don't play the games. You said you have never really been all that in to Silent Hill but you did enjoy the film... I wonder if you would have had different feelings towards the movie if you were a hardcore fan and knew the story, characters, lore, etc... more. |

| Well me and Regen liked the Silent Hill movie and we are fans of those games. Regen more than I though. I'm also a huge Mortal Kombat fan and I actually liked ALL of the movies (they were bad in a good way). Besides, wouldn't Resident Evil 1 make a great horror movie, not just for the fans of the games? |

| It wouldn't be catering to a small niche of people. It's a movie. It would be catering to every moviegoer AND gamer if they stuck with the story at least mostly. If they can do it with books and have them be fantastic...they can do it with games as well. It's that simple. |

| Nite, I'm not disagreeing with you and yes it is that simple but they cannot seem to get it right. Maybe one day they will find a formula that works, until then we are stuck with mediocre (at best) movie adaptations. I still think a big part of it is gamers expectations. And books tend to be a different story... They aren't necessarily forcing visual interpretations on us. We already have it in our mind what the characters look like and sound like, and how they carry themselves. All we have to do is mentally mold the words on the page into the character we want.
Mass, Mortal Kombat 1 was OK to me... the second movie was so bad, to this day have not seen it in its entirety in one sitting. I am a Silent Hill fan as well, and I liked the movie. But I still think, as fans of the games, we as movie goers overly critique what they have put to film. With the exception of anything Uwe Bowl has gotten his hands on, they are pure garbage. |

| I thought the second MK movie was so bad it was good Damn Uwe Boll... Why it had to be him to make the House of the Dead movie... I'm actually afraid to watch it! And it's not even because it's a horror movie!! |

He has ruined a lot. ESPECIALLY FARCRY! But his last movie Rampage was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed it. |

| Infinity ninjas. The most dangerous species of ninjas. Watch out, Chuck Norris!
As for the Rampage movie, it's good because he didn't make it out of the game. |

As for the Rampage movie, it's good because he didn't make it out of the game. No problem for Chuck... He would just kick them through infinity windshields and all would be right in the world again. Nite... I take it you aren't a fan of old exploitation films, they had retarded stories but it was made up for by the ridiculous violence. Shit, watch Dead Alive... It's a Peter Jackson film, crap story but the gore makes it fun. |

| Not a big fan of gore. No matter how ridiculously gorey something is, I never think it is funny or what have you. It doesn't offend me or gross me out...it just doesn't interest me. I do like me some really badly dubbed asian films from back in the day though. Jet Li's "The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk 1 + 2" come to mind. They are hilariously bad. |

| Just finished watching Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. I have only played Warrior Within a little bit so I don't know much of the original story but as a movie it was great. I love adventure movies like this. Hope it'll get a sequel. And if not, I'm completely fine with that too but gamewise it should get one. Anyone else seen it? |

Well the movie isn't based on the original story. Once again, Hollywood skipped ahead. I think Sands of Time was actually the fourth game. |
