"The Darkside Chronicles is basically a totally powered-up version of Umbrella Chronicles. It's a light-gun game on rails; it's not just like we've only improved the graphics, although we definitely have. We've also brought a new sort of "element of fear". We've really drilled down on trying to make the game more scarier, darker and suspenseful. One of the biggest points that we think Resident Evil fans are going to really get behind, is that you get to control Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield; and these are, within the Resident Evil canon, two of the most popular characters that have ever been in the series.
The game itself is based on Resident Evil 2, so those of you who have played Resident Evil and enjoyed it before, this gives you a chance to sort of go back and revisit what those games were all about, but do it with current technology. There's one more thing I think the fans will definitely get behind, that is the music in the game is taken directly from Resident Evil 2; we've just re-arranged it, re-mixed it to be more current with the times.
But certainly, if you are a fan of the original, you're going to like that. It is just really a "full, deep world", when you think about what Resident Evil 2 was. And it's not just the main characters, you're going to see all of the cool sub-characters. For example, Ada Wong, a considerably a cool and popular character in the Resident Evil franchise, will be in it. Sherry Birkin and Robert Kendo, the gun-shop owner who meets his untimely end, will also be in it.
On of the things that people had a conflict with, in Umbrella Chronicles, was that they said it was too difficult. So with the DarkSide Chronicles, the thing we wanted to do, was to adjust the difficulty, we wanted to make it something that's easy to get into, easier to complete, but, let's say, harder to "master". So for those of you, who are hard-core gamers, that want to try and do it all, it's going to be harder from that aspect than the Umbrella Chronicles was.
Darkside Chronicles will be released for the Wii, right now we are shooting for, perhaps, winter of this year. In final closing comments, I'd like to say it really is an evolution of what we have created with the Umbrella Chronicles. We really think we've taken the "Light-gun and on rails shooting" genre to the next phase, the next step. We think it's going be a great time, and a game that appeals to not only fans of Resident Evil, not only people who own the Wii and people who like "light-gun" games. But it's going to be something that's very accessible for a wide variety of different gamers."
In addition, here is some info on the Wii ports of REmake and RE0:
"Capcom have confirmed a US release of both Gamecube exclusives, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Remake for the Wii. These are mentioned in connection with a "Resident Evil Classics" range that Capcom will be releasing. At the moment it is assumed that both these releases will be standard ports of the Gamecube versions with a Wii control update much in the same vain as Resident Evil 4, however further information is not available at present on the actual additions and changes to these new versions.
Both versions will fall into the $30 price bracket much like the rest of Nintendo's gamecube pricing, this is of course subject to change if and when Capcom decide to add/vastly change the games for the current generation of Nintendo platform.
Hopes were raised for a rerelease/remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis after information was released on Capcom's press site alongside Darkside Chronicles. However, a few hours after the information went up, anticipation fell as it was revealed by Christian Svensson of Capcom to be a false rumour due to a typo or error upon the site.
On closer inspection the artwork shown alongside the Resident Evil 3 announcement was found to be original artwork for the Resident Evil Remake for the Gamecube and is pressumed to have been there as a connection to the release of Resident Evil Remake for the Wii."
And some news on the RE5 PC version:
"Good News for PC owners waiting patiently for their chance of playing the newest instalment of the Resident Evil franchise, the PC version of Resident Evil 5 that is scheduled for a release later this year now has a unique selling point all of its own compared to other Resident Evil titles.
It has been reported that Resident Evil 5 will be playable in full 3D. For average PC gamers however, it will not be cheap in converting their existing PC setup to meet the system requirements for full 3D, as due to the technology being so new and not the widest of games fully supporting the concept, gamers won't necessarily have the necessary equipment lying around.
The game will incorporate Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision technology, requiring Vision 3D glasses to get the full effect out of the game. Currently The GeForce Vision kit with glasses costs $199, or consumers can buy a bundle with a Vision-ready monitor for around $599.For exact specs. required to run the game to its full potential, check here at Nvidia's site."
