Martials arts isn't as deeply engrained into American culture as it is in some others, but it is still widely used.

In most cases, it's dependent on the skill level of the practitioner. An advanced practitioner of Jeet Kun Do will defeat a beginning practitioner of Pi Qua Quan, while an advanced practitioner of the latter will defeat a beginning practitioner of the former.

In other cases, one guy just cracks the other guy across the face with the buttstock of his M4, double taps his chest, and gets on with his day.

holy shit im starting to hate sheva now, im re doing the part where you have to inject wesker and when i shoot the rocket at him and blow it up, she just stands there and doesnt hold him down so i can inject him. its fahking annoying

Well you can't always be prepared. Like I said, that one time a guy pulled a little knife on me and I had no weapon other than my body and no other weapon readily available in my vicinity. Most people don't expect combat on a daily basis.

Seeing as I'm not a murderer, I wouldn't go for the kill. At least not so easily. A fight doesn't automatically mean to the death. It's more of putting a punk in their place. So, depending on how threatening my enemy is, I will either kick their ass, show them that they fucked with the wrong guy, or kick their ass and have the authorities deal with them. A weapon doesn't make you invincible, even marines aren't invincible. You need the proper skills and smarts. I'll never resort to using a weapon, because that's a sign of weakness.

And I'll say this again, war is a completely different story. More is at stake and it's army vs army. It's not about honor or dignity. It's about getting the job done.
