The best ending in a video game

Inspired by an article on Screwattack (which was inspired by the crappyness of the list in the new Guinnes book) I ask you, what has been your favorite ending in any game ever? While you think about yours I'll give you mine.

I'd have to say my personal favorite is Wizards & Warriors for the NES. It was the last NES game I ever beat on the beloved console and after running through the whole world trying to save the princess, finally beating the boss and succeeding the mission you have a simple yet fulfilling ending. "Thou hast rescued thy princess, thy search hath ended" with epic music playing in the background while you cut the ropes the princess is tied with. It almost brought me to tears. It was amazing. One of my favorite NES games.

Off the top of my head, I'm gonna go with the ending cinematic for Splinter Cell: Conviction. The perfect combination of story closure and badass.

OMG YESSS!!! It really was a tear jerker. Definitely one of the best endings I've seen.

id say one of the best voices in gaming. thats why i was happy when they brought him back for the DLC

Undead Nightmare was amazing. One of the best DLC I've ever downloaded.

id say one of the best voices in gaming. thats why i was happy when they brought him back for the DLC

He should have won the VGA that year for best voice acting. Even as awesome as NPH is...

I always loved this ending as a kid, it use to make me so sad. lol

The sad endings can be pretty epic...but the happy ones are even better.

Okami Ending. Never ceases to make me cry every time.

I cry a bucket loads of tears on that ending, no joke. The best ending I know at the moment.

Ok, now THAT is pretty funny.

I have a new favorite ending, the ending in Shadow of the Colossus. It's so tragic and deep at the same time... Amazing.

Yes, I happen to like Star Wars games

In all honesty though, the endings to KOTOR I & II are my favorites

The ending for Silent Hill 2. That shit was intense!
