| Hey there!
I happen to suffer from not knowing whether I'm a RE newb or not, because I've played only a fraction of the games yet, and what knowledge I have is based on obsession-fueled internet research after playing the REmake.
So yeah, the REmake... I've played it times and times again, it was my initiation to anything Resident Evil. It's fair to say that my expectations, preferences, and judgments regarding RE mostly stem from my experience with this game.
I've ordered RE2 a few days ago, though, so I can add some personal experience to my knowledge about the RE universe. I have also not yet played RE3 or C:VX. I have finished RE4 (I can't say I ever had the urge to beat it again), and I watched a friend of mine once or twice playing RE5, until I was no longer able to ignore that it was ludicrously RE in name only.
I've only watched the first movie, and I really like it. I've abstained from watching the sequels, though, because friends whose judgments I trust advised me against spending money on them. But I think I will watch them soon, just so I'm able to contribute. |

| Welcome to this madness. RE5 is a fun game, you shouldn't judge it by just looking. After you have played the games before that you should know enough to enjoy the awesome storyline presented in the game. Good call on the movies, though |

So... judging what you like is bad, but judging what you judge is acceptable... ;P Just kidding, but there are several things I don't like about RE5. I don't particularly like punch-a-boulder Topher Redfield, who emanates an even greater aura of jockdouche than don't-even-try-to-mix-V-JOLT,-the-game-will-tell-you-you're-too-stupid Chris. Then the fact that Sheva a mere product of idiotic accusations of racism – or, more exactly, the product of Capcom's bowing down to them (a quote from the intro perfectly describes her entire existence: "That's why I'm your partner: It'll put them at ease."). Don't get me wrong, she's infinitely more useful than Ashley, I just can't wipe this knowledge about her being a token from my brain. Combine that with broad daylight (not in principle a bad thing, but you have to deal with certain sentiments caused by the change in atmosphere that comes along) plus further going down the action road and it's Splinter Cell all over again. That series went largely into the same direction, so maybe I took to RE5 worse than justified because I already had to give up a beloved series before. I did like the crows, though. EDIT: typos fixed |

| I guess you could watch the movies to see for yourself but the problem with them is just that Anderson just took elements from the latest games and ducktaped them on a very mediocre zombie movie series. My opinion on them is that the first two are good and after those it was just forcing itself. Besides, judging by the latest stories from the upcoming film the guy himself doesn't seem to know where he's going with them. I'm still gonna watch it though so I can place my judgement wether it was good or not.
RE5 sure took some things on a more action oriented way leaving the horror aspect behind but it was still a good game with extremely good gameplay and a story that is pretty hard to top. Sheva actually was in all the way from the original concepts, she just got a more prominent role after the accusations.
It's still my third favorite RE game even with all it's flaws. If you ever decide to play it (which you really should) I recommend doing it with a friend on co-op. The files in the game also give some very interesting info. It's just too bad you can't stick with them :/ |

| Welcome to the forum. I must take issue, though, with the fact that you dislike RE5 but happen to enjoy the first Anderson film. RE5 is still perfectly well within what the RE series is all about. And no, RE is not and never has been soley about horror. The first Anderson film, while the best of the bunch, is still a slap in the face to RE as a whole. |

I explained in "Why does GL hate the newer games?" why I won't argue about what RE is truly about. Or I will at least always put it like "For me, RE is about..." I will not, however, exaggeratedly flame RE4/5. I will state why I like this game better than that one, but I'm not on a neverending quest to save my girlfriend an ever-lasting crusade against the newer titles. - NiteKrawler wrote:

I guess the fact that I have only seen the first one but none of the prequels makes me like it, mainly because the first movie doesn't actually go anywhere. There's the T-virus, there are zombies, there are Cerberi, there's a Licker. There's a group of people going into the Hive, there's a decimated group of people leaving it. Not much happenend, at the end of the movie they get back to where they started, a bunch of people are just a lot deader than before. And while I'd certainly be able to pick a number of things that I wish were different, it's not yet un-RE-ish enough for me; I can still project some things upon this movie which I wanted to see in a RE movie. |

| I must say that the first movie as it's own would've been a good addition to the franchise. Then they had to keep making sequels... |

| Aaaaaand... I'm a little less newbish already. Finished RE2 (Leon/A and Clair/A). Are the nude zombies in the Lab just, erm, nude zombies? Or are they different from T-zombies in more ways than just their sartorial style?

| They are just nude zombies. I guess they're a little tougher than regular ones but that might be because of the prolonged exposition to the virus in the labs. |

| I don't begrudge you guys them titties, but one user had to remove his avater for male nudity (with Ghost Leader insisting on "any nudity" being "inappropriate" for this forum), so while I can tolerate tits and would rather want to change nudity policies, I can't ignore the fact that there'd be some double standard going on here if that issue was left uncommented. |
