| Greetings! I am Raine, a long time fan of the Resident Evil video game series. (Though I am proud to say that I only like the classic RE games excluding both Outbreak titles, Umbrella Chronicles, and Darkside Chronicles. I loathe the abominations known as RE4 and RE5). I joined this forum to discuss RE with more of its fans. In case you were curious, my favorite characters are Steve Burnside (unpopular opinion, I know ), Claire Redfield, Barry Burton, Lisa Trevor, and Billy Coen. As for my favorite games, they are Code: Veronica/Code: Veronica X, REmake, and RE0. Outside of RE, I am a big fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, Neon Genesis Evangelion, the localized Tales of Series games excluding Phantasia, Silent Hill, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Parasite Eve (only the novel and first game), Star Wars, Batman, X-Men, and Invader Zim. See you around. |

| Welcome to the forum. I do have to disagree with you about RE4 and 5. They are great games. |

| Welcome to this madness.
RE4, 5 and both Outbreaks were all awesome games. Love them all, especially 5. I must add, though, that neither the Outbreak nor the Chronicles series are "classic" RE games.

| Welcome I to enjoy the newer titles. The classics being farther superior but the new ones are good honest RE titles I also like the fact you like the VERY original Code veronica for the DC. Did you not appreciate RE2 ? if you enjoy CV surely you would love RE2, the game shares far to much similarity's, but more from that later. Enjoy your stay. |

I think you misunderstood me. I stated that I like Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles, as well as the classic RE games with the exceptions of Outbreak 1 and 2. Actually, I thought the Outbreak games were considered classic RE games by the fan-base, since they were add-ons in terms of story for the Raccoon City era. I can see why they would not be, though, since they were very different both in game play and tone than RE0 - RE C:V/C:VX, which RE4 and RE5 also were. - Mcghie wrote:

As I stated, I like all the games from RE0 to RE C:V/C:VX, so of course I like RE2. However, it is my least favorite game from that era. While it has an interesting storyline that provides further insight into the series' various conspiracies, many of its characters annoyed me. I disliked Leon, Ada, and Sherry, as well as William, Ben, and the gun shop owner (what an idiot). However, it introduced Claire, who I love. I also enjoyed Irons, Annette, and HUNK. And the original Code: Veronica for Dreamcast? I consider it a breakthrough game. The first time I watched its opening when I was ten years old in Electronics Boutique, my jaw nearly dropped to the floor. It is truly amazing.

Actually, by the basis of the word "classic", the only games that would fall in the category are the original three and maybe CV. |

RE4 and 5 are great games (you can't deny that), but I also like the old ones better. |

I don't know about Raine, but I personally count Survivor 1 & 2 and Dead Aim as part of the "classic" category as well. |

| Hmm... I guess it's just the way you look at things. Even though I thoroughly loved the Survivor series the only one of those I'd count as "classic" is the original. |

Sorry man never noticed that you said all up to RE0 I did like Leon back when RE2 was first released but over the years there has been a growing hate for him. I preferred claire also Most people usually chose CVx but I always enjoyed the first version of CV for some reason, that may be from my love for dreamcast however. Are you from the UK ? I haven't heard anyone mention electronics boutique for years I miss that name, GAME sound to plain for liken |

I don't know about Raine, but I personally count Survivor 1 & 2 and Dead Aim as part of the "classic" category as well. maybe its the context that its usually used but i personally find the term 'classic' in referrence to the re games effin annoying. i would concur with mass in regards to what is deserving of being labeled as classic. re1, 2 and 3. maybe cvx, unless anybody thinks its got too much action? the right amount of action? not enough action? sorry, been watching a lot of scsa recently. so what warrants an re game to be categorized as a classic in your book gl? anything pre-re4? anything but re4? anything with camera angles? |

Basically in my point of view, I consider classic everything until RE4, mainly because there is a HUGE change in the series after that game. Just my oppinion, of course that if we are strict the first three games are the "classic" ones, and I think is ok to consider Outbreaks a "classic" Re game, mainly because it is third person |

@at spikey: read the part that says "In my point of view", and about RE4, I'm not talking about the silly discussion about the survival horror, I'm talking about the gameplay, the gameplay after RE4 was never the same Games like Outbreak, CVX, Zer0 and REmake do have the classic gameplay style but that would outline all the other RE games from the same era from being "classics". You did say you agree with GL but the Survivor series did not have the same gameplay style as the originals. Actually DA had much the same gameplay style as what it is today. |

Except it wasn't an action shooter (despite the back cover saying it is lol), it still maintained the horror movie atmosphere that the previous games had. |

By RE5, when they say those bits about the horror, nobody here probably takes that seriously, but still, RE4 maintained that atmosphere without deviating too much. @Paul, I read the whole thing and my post still stands. Your point of view isn't what I'm talking about. The gameplay hasn't been the same for a long time. RE4 made some adjustments to things that have been showing up for a long time. |

In what games? At least since RE3. And I could sit here and list all kinds of similarities and evolutions from earlier things, that were maybe perfected by RE4. Stuff like dodging. I know i've done it before, in one of the many, many, many, many RE4 discussion I've had. |
