| One question.
Should I get RE: Outbreak for the PS2? It's running for only £2.82 on Amazon.co.uk. |

| ONLY £2.82?!?! GET IT! NOW!!!!
Those games are pretty costy these days, that's a total bargain.
You will get a whole new RE experience from this so I would totally recommend this. |

And that's saying something for a PS2 game. PS: Today's my lucky day. I got Outbreak for £2.82, and, I rediscovered a bunch of old games I had when I was a weiner kid. |

| Get it! You know what would be sweet, if they did an HD remake of both Outbreak games and they could connect to PSN and XBL that way you could play with other people. |

I thought the graphics on PS2 were pretty sweet in pretty much any of the later games. For the getting used to part: You have two AI partners running around with you, there are no item boxes (although the item drop system is the same as in Zer0 and you can swap items with partners like in RE5) and the load times are pretty bad. Also the eight characters have different traits so expect to have different gameplay for each. |

| Who would you say are the best character's for a somewhat seasoned RE player? Also, shame about the load times. Is the door animation still there?
PS: When you compare the PS2 with the original xBox and Gamecube... |

PS: When you compare the PS2 with the original xBox and Gamecube... I guess Kevin Ryman would be your choice then. The door animation is lacking too, there's a heartbeat sound instead of that. The load time problem was fixed for the second game, though. - For a quick rundown on all the characters:
Kevin Ryman: Pretty much an all rounder. Starts with a special handgun, is good at headshots and can kick enemies. One of the surviving RPD officers.
Mark Wilkins: A Barry-like character. Starts with a regular handgun, is the most resilient to damage, good with blunt weapons and also the strongest. Security guard.
David King: A Super Mario-like character. Starts with a knife, able to combo knife attacks and can craft new weapons. Plumber who has the habit of disappearing and reappearing when you least expect it (AI).
George Hamilton: Surgeon from Raccoon Hospital. Is able to combine herbs into various pills and has a dodge/counter which is pretty tricky to use. Haven't played much as him.
Jim Chapman: The coward of the team. Pretty weak, can increase his critical chance with a coin toss, is able to play dead to avoid enemies (this makes the infection rate higher, though), can spot items from the map and is skilled with puzzles. Never played as the guy.
Yoko Suzuki: Has extra inventory space, much like Jill in the first game. She's the slowest and the weakest but has the dodge ability and the slowest virus gauge. Ex Umbrella.
Alyssa Ashcroft: Strongest female character. Has the lockpick and is able to use the pot shot ability. Reporter.
Cindy Lennox: I think she might be the fastest character. Can carry extra herbs in her Herb Case and is able to duck to avoid getting hit.
A couple of other things to take into consideration in this game: There is a virus gauge which is pretty much a timer, if it gets to 100% you're dead. It's not fast but taking serious damage makes things worse (there are items to slow it down). There's also character "relationships" which can affect how the survivors act towards each other in different scenarios. Oh, and dead partners come back to life as zombies. And one more thing: different endings for different characters for each scenario. I don't know about GC but to me the PS2 and XBox graphics looked exactly the same.

| damn, mass pretty much covered it all. but yeah, go with kevin. he was the first, and pretty much only character i play as. though i did play all of them.
he has the same rpd uniform as leon, minus the long sleeves underneath. basically though, he just starts with a .45, which is winning.
although you can find a 9mm extremely easily on any level....its whatever though. |

Did you play all of them on all scenarios? My preferred character tends to be David. His knife combo kicks ass. |

| You know, the Outbreak games just might be the Resident Evil games with most content and replay value. |

| And what about Outbreak File #2? And the survivor series? Are they any good? |

| Outbreak File#2 has new story and is pretty much upgraded in many ways. New character abilities and cut load times. It also lets you have the stuff you unlocked in the first game if the saves are on the same memory card.
Survivors series is really recommended, as it is officially canon. With those games I have to warn you, each game has a different gameplay style. |

| Why would I snap the disk if it's been such highly acclaimed by your fellow forumgoers? |

| BTW Mass, the survivor series as a whole isnt canon, just the first survivor.
i also havent played survivor 2, so i cant speak on behalf of the gameplay.
i do have dead aim though, and its pretty different from survivor 1. |

i do have dead aim though, and its pretty different from survivor 1. Dead Aim is officially canon. That came straight from Capcom. Made a thread about it some time ago: [link]Add the fact that Dino Stalker (Survivor 3) is a canon sequel to Dino Crisis too it would pretty much seem the whole series is canon. In the case of Survivor 2 it doesn't really matter as the whole game is Claire's dream anyway. Byt that account it could very much be. |

| WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!
I HAVE OUTBREAK!
(Kevin is a douche. I was jumping to the apartments, and I pressed X a little early and I was holding on to the edge. I called for help, and Kevin said no. Instead he just watched me dangle on one hand.) |

| I thought you were going to play as Kevin yourself.
Good thing it's nigh impossible to die from dropping down at that point. I think it's a bug or something, as I never got any character to help me up. |

| I did. The next time I played the level, I decided to play as David. And then the douchery began. Also, I love the 'Below Freezing Point' scenario. It's RE2's lab, but in glorious PS2 graphics. Imagine what that'd be like on Gamecube. Speaking of Gamecube, REmake, speaking of REmake, HURRY UP AND REMAKE RE2. |

Gamecube. Screw Gamecube. Imagine how it will look in ORC. |
