Why do people not like D.C. Douglas?

I don't understand. I find that a lot of people don't like his voice for Wesker. Personally I think that it was just a slight variation on the CV voice. I felt that he added more of a sly and deviousness to his voice, which fits his character.

Yeah I felt the same way about it, he didn't do that bad of a job doing his voice in my opinion.

I thought he did a good job but I prefer the voice from 4. I think a lot of hate simply comes from the fact that capcom cliched wesker in 5 and I get the feeling that got tied to Douglases performance.

The CVX voice actor is the best hands down. He did RE0 and RE4 too.

Richard Waugh does his voice in CV, RE0, and RE4. I liked D.C. Douglas but Richard's voice fitted Wesker's character a lot more to me.

I like Douglas. He played Wesker's voice very well and it definitely suited the character. It gives Wesker a bit more character than Waugh seemed to give him. Don't get me wrong. I like both actors, but I think I like Douglas better.

I agree with that, some of his dialogue is pretty ackward too.

I liked him fine.

he added more of the wrong kind of personality. when it was waugh, he had this cool, and almost scary, real voice.

dc douglas was climbing uphill from day 1, simbly because he was replacing an already established character.

the fact that his personality, mannerisms and the things he said as well as his style all changed, douglas' acting just sounds fake and ingenuine.

just sounds stupid. im glad that it was metioned that a lot of people dont like douglas as wesker, not a lot of people just dont like him.

me personally, i liked him a lot in Buffy on xbox. as wesker though, he blows.

He did fine.

Even just having Douglas' voice for Wesker in Mercs, as in hearing him when I jump down to a lower area, or get attacked(while it's a little better hearing him in agony), or whatever, really just makes me enjoy playing as him even less.

Obviously I don't care for him, but yeah....for me it really makes the series as a whole, far less enjoyable.

That being because an important character with strong ties to the roots, being ruined, plays a big role overall. Maybe not in the big picture, as there are still tons of other awesome characters, voice actors and other things, but still....

Personally i really liked him in UC and 5 aswell.

I get what you're saying Spike. Wesker's voice seemed less dark in RE5. His voice and personality were both more loose than they were in all the other games. I don't really know how to explain it, but he looked more devious in 0, 1, CV and 4

Him being less dark and devious in RE5 is just ridiculous. He was off the chain evil in 5. And less stable as well. I liked Douglas' voice acting fine, it was just a few times when he spoke a bit weirdly that I didn't like. To me, Waugh didn't make Wesker stand out. At all. His voice was too normal.

how about down to earth. he didnt sound like an over-the-top, ridiculous, wannabe, comic book, generic, stupid, rip off of a villian.

i think it was basch that used the term, souless man....idk, there was a certain quality, and realism with waugh's performance that is absent from douglas'.

in re4, there was a kind of frightening quality to his character, just the voice really allowed for that. seeing a more realistic wesker, graphically and all, but knowing about the super abilities, having experienced all that in cvx.

what we see in uc and re5, that completely dropped the ball with all that.

That works too, thanks. Wesker, sitting in a comfy chair behind a screen in a nice black suit does not a scary villain make. The point is, voice acting is like music. The greatest bands are the ones you know just by hearing them. Even if I don't know the song, I can pick out AC/DC's unique sound. I can always tell when Paul Stanley throws down some lyrics for KISS. If I hear D.C. Douglas in a Resident Evil game, I know it is Wesker. Waugh, on the other hand, not so much.

I'm not saying he was less evil in RE5. There's just something about past Weskers that make him seem more dark and mysterious. Maybe it's because RE5 revealed his true intentions and all the other games left us high and dry. I guess I just prefer mysterious Wesker.

thats what i meant about the frightening quality. we didnt know. the voice played such a big part in making that character cool for me.

not knowing what he might do maybe. certainly the word mysterious fits well.

@Nite, being down to earth, and more human, not human as in not a mutant freak, but personality wise. very human qualities.

in re5, all the coolness i had known wesker for was gone. that mystery was ruined, by stupid ass matrix moves dont dont belong on his character. and a plan more befitting of spencer, oh wait, it was spencer's plan that wesker stole.

dc douglas sounds like a jackass voicing the character, most of the time.

when i hear his voice, i do indeed think wesker, but not the same wesker.

why does he have to dress like a douche bag too....skin-tight leather, with a long leather trenchcoat that has a slit up to the lower back. it looks so incredibly queer.

the way he acts, sounds, looks, i just find it too annoying...i still love the character, pre UC, thats it.
