Rained here too, although the fireworks still went off ok. My local fireworks show sets off car alarms around the vicinity allllll the time. I dunno why everyone keeps locking their cars while there.

lol. Why do the alarms get set off? I remember in Arizona, the ground was so dry that the fireworks site was surrounded by dozens of fire engines, almost in a complete wall.

Well who says drinking is the "proper" way to celebrate? Different societies = different celebratory styles. If you want to drink on an independence day then go get some independence.

it was really dark and smokey last night where i live, it dident rain tho. fireworks went off the whole day

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think you have any right at all to determine what other people, much less other cultures entirely, should do?

i know i havent got a right to tell people what way they should celebrate but i think it would be very boring just watching fireworks

We don't just watch fireworks. There are parades and functions and newscasts and all sorts of things. Most of us though, are strapped for cash these days and so we eat and watch fireworks, something that really isn't too boring. I just went out to eat yesterday and saw Ice Age 3, and that was it. And where did you get your info that America has the biggest drinking culture? Most other countries have a lower drinking age and a higher teen pregnancy rate because of it. I don't think our drinking culture is much different than any other countries.
