Didn't they say they had a manor announcement last year and all we really got from them was Mega Man in Smash Brothers?

Just because none of their offerings are significant to you, doesn't mean they aren't so for them. So it isn't necessarily a lie. I'm sure a lot of people were disappointed with E3. I know I was when there was no word on a Red Dead Redemption sequel.
What was the major game then? I mean, there was really no new announcements at all and DLC can hardly be called something "major".
Dead Rising 3 on PC is pretty significant an announcement, for one thing.

Yes and no.
As a PC gamer I'm glad I will be able to play the game without having to shell out for a xbox one.
That being said the only reason they have considered releasing it for the PC is due to sales, you can tell deep down that Capcom
is disappointed from the sales they received from the xbox one and also PC will have a bigger market just now as not everyone is going to have a xbox one yet.
Not to mention the xbox one version couldn't even handle the game, the performance issues where pretty bad and the whole dynamic resolution they had in place for the console version so that areas where the GPU was struggling to render the game would shift resolutions in order to stabilize it (most people wouldn't notice the difference).
I feel the game should be released for the PS4 as well as PC, least they are the two platforms that you know games will never have much performance issues on.

But even that was announced before the actual event. I only mentioned because it was announced when they published their E3 lineup, four days before the event. If it indeed had been mentioned for the first time during E3 I would concur that it was the big announcement.

Sure, it's Capcom's fault for dropping the ball ahead of time, but that doesn't make them liars.

It was a planned reveal since they showed the PC trailer during the pre-E3 thing. So them telling there will be a big reveal at E3 is a lie. Unless that "major game" they were talking about was the port of the Ace Attorney games to 3DS, despite a 3DS being capable of playing the DS versions anyway.

Maybe I was just over hyped but I do not see any of the stuff they had as something "major", since almost all of it was known beforehand. Not even as leaks but official announcements.

Scratch that AA re-release announcement as the possible one. They released a trailer for it days beforehand.

Is it possible you got a bit too enthusiastic about a Resident Evil announcement that ultimately didn't come? Wink

I honestly would've been happy with any big announcement. A new Megaman, PS4 port of Dead Rising 3, something about the new Ace Attorney game, a new Devil May Cry, something new about Monster Hunter, a revival of an old IP, a completely new IP and yes, a new Resident Evil game. I could have done with anything. I got nothing. We got nothing. They had literally nothing new to the fray apart from yet another release of old games and DLC. You can't say I'm wrong in feeling shafted.

No, I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that dropping the ball ahead of time doesn't make them liars. They still had a pretty big announcement in DR3 coming to PC, they just spoiled it early for some odd reason instead of announcing it at E3.

And Europe gets it a whole three days earlier. Woohoo. Coincidentally it's Saturday, too, so even if I pre-ordered I most likely wouldn't get the game until the 21st anyway.

Personally I'm annoyed that some YT personalities get these games early. I can understand review copies but just going "Hey, here's our game, play it and release everything about it online before everyone else gets a chance to play it".

Preordering has lots its appeal to me. There doesn't seem to be a point anymore because favoritism.

It makes sense from a marketing standpoint, by giving up just one copy of the game you can reach 3 million people. It's far more efficient than anything else they could do. I've never found pre-orders to be appealing, to me it just feels like the publisher's way to get your money before word gets out about the game's quality. I'd rather wait to see unaltered footage like part of a lets play and make a decision based on that.

That being said, they didn't even give him the full game, just a demo. So I don't get why they didn't just put it up for download like a normal company would and then just ask him to play it.

So apparently there's gonna be a $20 season pass that lets you get 3 pieces of DLC; one that lets you play as Boxman and a two part story as Julie Kidman. I was actually going to get the game for full price, but I'm a cheap bastard so now I might just wait for it to drop in price so I can get this without spending any extra money.

Why would you want to play as Boxman?

Additionally, this was at the bottom.

I'm on the same page with Narwahls. I'll either wait for the "Super Ultra Turbo" edition or wait till I can get the game on a lowered price. I really dislike shelling out almost half more to the game's price so I can get the rest of it.

Who wouldn't want to play as the big bad? It's always an interesting side to a story.

I think that addendum was just the usual jargon so no one will claim bullshit on them later on if things go that way. Still, not saying there isn't a chance it actually means something.

I've got a feeling that if you separate the DLC's the Boxman will be $5 while the other two are $10, so I feel that I might as well get the season pass, that way the game says "Hey, if you're going to spend $20 anyway, why not get the season pass with boxman?" This has been happening lately.

Batman Arkham Origins also had two pieces of DLC that I found interesting that came with a bunch of extra costumes, so I picked it up as well. Here was the problem, I thought there were two story missions for the Arkham Origins season pass, but one ended up just being challenge maps. In actuality, the Season Pass promised two story missions but I only got one story based mission, and made me pay for everything else that I didn't want.

DLC is a very shady business. I've learned since then not to buy season passes until I know about everything that comes with it. So far the Boxman DLC description is very vague, and it just seems like--from what I read--you're Boxman in a room killing things, then when things stop coming you go to a different room and do it again.

The latest trailer looks great:

The gameplay reminds me a lot of Silent Hill: Downpour. If Evil Within is anything like that, just without the massive frame drops, it'll be good.

The thing is, Downpour is notorious for its frame drops. When it's loading a new area, for example, or multiple enemies, the game will literally jump frames like in the laggiest Counter Strike match you've ever seen. It only takes a second but it is annoying and I always fear the game is freezing.

PostSubject: The Evil Within Game Thread (NO SPOILERS)   Sat Oct 11, 2014 4:34 pm

So I'm playing The Evil Within and I've decide to make a thread so we can all discuss how the game goes and feels since it has a close relationship with the RE fanbase.

This is what i think of the game so far:

-I like it Smile
-It is really psychological, the sanity effects are really strong here
-I can't help it, but it reminds me a lot of RE4
-There are many ways to kill and dispose enemies, which I love
-The difficulty is challenging but so far I haven't felt frustrated at all.

On another note, I uploaded a quick vid a did with my cellphone of a situation early in the game which is a direct nod to the RE series, it isn't a sppoiler, but just in case....

Spoiler:

there are only two kinds of items, ammo and health, there is however a way to create different ammo for the harpoon weapon that used the pieces you find in the traps around the game. the management is in real time so expect a lot of mistakes while changing guns or health items.
